Alongside 22 other organizations, we urge Senators to vote in favor of @SenSanders's joint resolutions of disapproval to block the bombs and bulldozers to Israel. Congress needs to step up and send a strong message that it opposes the reckless and destructive wars in Iran and across the region as well as Israel's widespread violations of international law in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. This is a critical opportunity for Congress to assert its oversight authority, enforce US arms transfer law, protect civilians, and help ensure that the US-Israel ceasefire with Iran remains in place, rather than a regional war that costs civilian lives, destabilizing the global economy, and undermines US national security interests. Yesterday, Israeli strikes across Lebanon killed 250+ people even as Pakistan said the ceasefire it brokered includes Lebanon. Netanyahu urged Trump to start this war, now Trump must demand he help end it. Who's calling the shots here? reuters.com/world/middle-e…

Israel's massive assault on Lebanon today undermines US national security interests, not only by further destabilizing Lebanon, but by risking a derailment of the fragile ceasefire and critical negotiations with Iran. Congress should be urging the Israeli government to immediately halt all hostilities in Lebanon and allow diplomacy a chance. x.com/AmnestyMENA/st…

The ceasefire framework explicitly included Lebanon, despite what Israel claims. Yet today Israel launched its largest wave of attacks since March. This is a pattern. US lawmakers cannot continue to fund & arm a partner that openly defies every call for peace.

Apocalyptic scenes in Lebanon’s capital right now. Israel has launched 100 airstrikes on Lebanon in 10 minutes. Striking South Lebanon, Beirut and the Bekaa Valley simultaneously. This isn’t a ceasefire. It’s mass bombardment of civilian areas.

The U.S. must immediately make clear to Israel that the ceasefire agreement is not and cannot be functional without a ceasefire in Lebanon. The American people want this war to end and bombing downtown Beirut is not a path to peace.

Enough is enough. Egyptian authorities should immediately release prominent activist, poet and political writer Ahmed Douma from pretrial detention and to stop their systematic campaign of judicial harassment against him. Read our joint statement: acmer.us/joint-statemen…

The two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan is good news. Any Trump order for U.S. forces to strike Iranian civilians would be a horrific violation of American values.

This meets the threshold for intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national group as set forth in 18 US Code § 1091 prohibiting the crime of genocide. If any Iranians are killed pursuant to this threat, President Trump will be guilty of genocide, as will those assisting him.

Trump is calling reporters today to tell them he is going to commit mass war crimes next week. GOP leaders need to stop him. Never mind that blowing up bridges and power plants and killing innocent Iranians won't reopen the Strait. It's also a clear war crime. 1/ A 🧵on why:
Rachel Scott@rachelvscott

Spoke with President Trump. He told me the conflict should be over in days, not weeks but if no deal is made he’s blowing up the whole country with “very little” off the table. "If happens, it happens. And if it doesn't, we're blowing up the whole country,” he said. I asked if there’s anything off limits. “Very little,” he said.
