@diffusefield @iamnicksimpson @TheADHDadults Oh yes! I completely agree! The fact that there is a lot of ADHD in academia, does not mean it’s easy for us to get into it, especially nowadays with the increased “commercialisation” of academia and the increased admin load which is required from us

@ADHDscientist @iamnicksimpson @TheADHDadults I see this, but also I'd say that nowadays it's really difficult to have an academic career for everyone and possibly more for us. This may be true in the rest of "ADHD friendly" careers too. Neoliberalism is making more and more difficult having a job and pay bills and housing.

We were looking at evidence for "ADHD careers" and what stood out was how almost all of the advice is based on an imagined form of ADHD very weakly aligned to either the research or people's experience.

Hi @thetimes. As a long time subscriber who has ADHD, it's really disappointing to see this poorly researched complete rubbish. The last thing we need is every crappy myth from 20 years ago dredged up so now a potentially very debilitating condition is taken even less seriously
