@KJBorsh Like I understand the original conceit, students were supposed to be on a 4 year track. But to make it a hard and fast rule is, like most of "amateurism" and "student-athlete" almost impossible to make stand up in court

I am not sure how this holds up. High school athletes are still high school students, and the rules for athletes are already more stringent than those on students as far as the timeline to complete high school by a certain age.
Ross Dellenger@RossDellenger

The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation. No redshirts or waivers. bit.ly/3POqo2D

@amyklobuchar Be careful. The term dementia is already over used by care providers without any medical substantiation. OTs and PTs have too much power related to elderly as do care providers in assisted living. Personal autonomy is not respected. It's disgusting.

Great to be at the University of Minnesota Duluth where incredible work is being done to improve treatment of Alzheimer’s and dementia. I introduced a bipartisan bill to provide additional training for primary care providers because they are a key part of early detection.

@CPyles8 @FloWrestling Has FRL considered doing short segments during shows highlighting D2, D3, JUNCO and women's div? It would be a nice add. Like a brief 5-10 minute review of news and or standouts in other divisions. Maybe covering news on ranked HS kids other than the same 4 over and over?

@KemererOverHall @wrestlingnomad If they do it. How are the refs going to call "driving" out? Will it be a point for the top wrestler? Wouldn't that effectively kill riding because top would just drive out when trying to escape?

@wrestlingnomad I understand where these people are coming from with appreciating the skill it takes in folkstyle, but do we really want to keep watching one guy drag the other by the foot into the mat while the other tries and runs away? Is that really what we want to protect?

Noah Wyle at the SAG awards: " I'm so grateful to this union and for all the protections and privileges that it affords me, and I don't take it for granted, and I don't forget the hard won fights and battles by giants who fought before us on whose shoulders I, and we all, stand. I'm so grateful for this. I'm so grateful to the membership of @sagaftra, to the membership of all of our sibling unions, especially our casting crew, and to labor unions everywhere."

Professor Judea Pearl — the pioneer who invented causal reasoning in AI — says scaling won't save us. "Mathematical limitations that are not crossable by scaling up." The brutal truth: LLMs aren’t learning how the world works. They are learning how we describe the world. This resonates with most biologists: Drug discovery is hitting the same wall. We have mountains of genomic data, but most AI models just find patterns in published papers — not in the raw biology itself. They're learning what scientists think causes disease, not what actually does. Pearl's causal revolution? That's how we move from "this gene correlates with cancer" to "this gene causes cancer" — and finally design drugs that work. Until then, we're building very expensive parrots.

Don’t look away from Minnesota. ICE is still wreaking havoc across the state - changing their tactics to deceive Minnesotans - pretending to be construction workers or folks delivering groceries. There’s still over 2,000 ICE agents in the state. They’re not going anywhere, your anger and outrage shouldn’t either.

Epstein + Bobby Kotick (CEO of Activision Blizzard - the company behind Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Candy Crush, Diablo, Overwatch) in leaked 2013 emails: “How do we teach kids to spend money for the rest of their lives as early as possible?” Answer: microtransactions in Call of Duty + sexy rewards + guns + virtual items. Because “education through games is for losers” - we need to hook them on constant paying. Kotick’s name appears over 300 times in Epstein’s files. This isn’t a conspiracy theory. These are their own words. And look around - that’s exactly what kids’ gaming looks like today. 💀

🚨 Epstein Searchers Are Missing the Big Picture Epstein’s pattern was very consistent: he courted and funded prominent theoretical physicists, mathematicians, and biologists — largely from MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Caltech, and the Santa Fe Institute. These were precisely the loci where many past and current JASON members taught or held emeritus posts. JASON membership lists are semi-public in recent decades; you’ll notice repeated overlap: Members or former members teaching at Harvard or MIT Physics Departments. Connections to the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, which historically birthed many original JASON figures. Some collaboration nodes through Santa Fe Institute, where complexity science, defense modeling, and JASON thinking merged in the 1980s–1990s. While Epstein wasn’t inside the classified JASON mechanism, he embedded himself socially right next to its intellectual artery — the top-echelon theoretical science community that intersected academia and defense consulting. Epstein wasn’t drawn to science out of curiosity alone. His specific obsessions — genetics, artificial intelligence, advanced computation, and “transhuman” ideas — overlap heavily with areas monitored for dual-use potential by national-security-linked science networks. He funded: Research symposia at Harvard involving prominent physicists and cognitive scientists. Donations funneled to MIT’s Media Lab (through Joi Ito and Marvin Minsky), both of which were historically adjacent to defense-funded innovation. Minsky, for example, had direct historical proximity to JASON-level circles through his involvement with DARPA-funded AI research. Epstein associated with and donated to Minsky, and later was accused in testimony of having assaulted a victim on Epstein’s island. What’s been documented (in emails, public records, and investigative journalism—The New Yorker did strong work here): Epstein met and socialized with scientists who had recent or former JASON ties. He attended salons and conferences where some JASON members were present (e.g., certain events hosted by the Harvard Program for Evolutionary Dynamics and Edge Foundation gatherings). He donated indirectly to institutions that either hosted JASON summer studies or related workshops (MIT, Caltech, Santa Fe). However — and this is essential — there is no credible indication that Epstein ever had security clearance, attended JASON’s classified meetings, or saw any classified documents. While not cleared, Epstein was a master of proximity influence. He effectively shadowed genuine scientific elites—extracting conversational intelligence about research directions before they became public. Such information has market value far beyond gossip: Early knowledge of major AI breakthroughs. Awareness of defense funding streams in certain tech sectors. Access to person-to-person gossip about “who knows what” inside the classified world. Think of it as social infiltration without formal clearance — a type of “epistemic spycraft” that monetizes social networks of elite scientists rather than stealing documents. The Epstein–science nexus demonstrates how, when elite scientific advisory cultures lose transparency, they become easily parasitized by influence brokers. He acted as a mirror to the moral decay of Big Science—the same institutions that once birthed independent integrity guilds like JASON. His story isn’t about one man’s corruption alone; it reveals how scientific prestige has been decoupled from ethical restraint. Bill Clinton once remarked that there’s a government within the government—one he didn’t control. He wasn’t referring to the “Deep State” as it’s commonly portrayed in the media. He was pointing to a parallel capability that operates beyond any real oversight: people with the power to finance projects that can’t be officially funded, to construct things that can never be formally approved, and to operate in spaces where normal rules simply don’t apply. The sexual misconduct is what grabs the headlines and draws the public’s attention. And yes, it did happen. But the far more consequential story is the science. Designer infants. Human cloning. Hormone experimentation on children. Gene editing programs. These were ideas and initiatives floated in private messages to a wealthy financier who possessed three critical things: a vast network capable of recruiting top talent, the unrestricted capital to bankroll the research, and the influence needed to keep participants silent.
