The Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works is establishing a new culture of attacking waste and instituting fiscal discipline. This will empower our #USACE district commanders to get projects done much faster and at less cost.

The BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE, NOT PAPERWORK initiative is about smart Prioritization. To save time and money, we are implementing Early Federal Interest Determination when considering new studies. This will prevent the wasting of resources on non-viable projects.

With the BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE, NOT PAPERWORK plan, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide the fast, clear, and consistent decisions needed to get projects built 🇺🇸

Assistant Secretary Telle attended a ribbon-cutting for the new I-ATLAS facility at Stennis Intl. Airport in @HancockCountyMS to thank Gov. @tatereeves for his innovative leadership and to sign an interagency MOU to improve efficiency in federal coastal mapping and charting.

Today, Assistant Secretary Telle is announcing the release of $155 million to the Corps of Engineers to continue remediation projects under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP).

Once the lapse and review are over, the Administration may consider taking further actions allowable under the law that limit, cancel, or reprioritize resources in a manner that is consistent with these reviews and with the Administration’s stated priorities.

To enable continued oversight of the most critical projects throughout the nation, we will pause and review other projects to see if we can deliver them more efficiently.

Because of the lapse in appropriations that provide for oversight of Army Corps projects, we believe that our office and the Corps may be unable to provide adequate oversight of all the projects currently in the portfolio, which includes projects essential to life and safety.

On this 24th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, we honor the innocent lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and all who answered the call to serve. We will never forget.
