@KennethParrott6 @Hondo320F16 @ToddHagopian When you roll your vehicle with narcotics in your system and have a history of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, the inference is you rolled your car because of the massive amounts of narcotics in yoir system.

But he didn’t fail any test (which is outside the scope of the discussion at hand). You don’t know if he was the one that didn’t maintain control. He could well have been hit or swerved to avoid something that darted out. So really, you don’t know shit. You assume. You have no truth.

@KennethParrott6 @Hondo320F16 @ToddHagopian From the picture alone I can derive that someone failed to maintain control of their vehicle. And then, with the added info that it was Tiger's car and he tested positive for narcotics after this, and you can start to make some pretty reasonable inferences.

The boomerlibs at the “No Kings” rallies wanted me forcibly vaccinated, fired, put in a camp, and dead because they were scared shitless of a 99.999% survivable virus. I was laid off six months. They yelled at me in the store for not wearing the dumb mask. I truly despise them.

Wait … we STOLE Switzerland’s money?! Am I reading this right?
Shanaka Anslem Perera ⚡@shanaka86

BREAKING: The United States just took over $126 million from Switzerland’s fighter jet account to cover missile shortfalls in the Iran war. Switzerland did not approve this. Switzerland did not consent. Switzerland had already frozen its Patriot payments after learning deliveries would be delayed four to five years. The US circumvented the freeze. SRF, Switzerland’s national broadcaster, reported on March 26 that Washington redirected Swiss funds originally allocated for 36 F-35 fighter jets to cover Patriot air defence shortfalls using the Foreign Military Sales pooled trust fund, a structure that allows the Pentagon to reallocate payments across a buyer’s contracts without that buyer’s permission. Swiss armaments chief Urs Loher confirmed the diverted amount is a “low three-digit million” Swiss francs and called the situation “very unsatisfactory.” The money Switzerland paid for jets is now subsidising a war Switzerland refused to participate in. Bern halted new arms exports to the US on March 20 citing the Iran conflict. Switzerland rejected two US military flyover requests linked to Iran operations. Two hundred years of armed neutrality, and Washington reached into the account anyway. Here is why. The United States fired 943 Patriot interceptors defending Gulf states in the first four days of Operation Epic Fury per a US Congressional study cited by the Jerusalem Post last week. Lockheed Martin and Boeing produce 620 Patriot interceptors per year combined. In four days, America burned through eighteen months of global Patriot production. The war has consumed roughly one-third of the entire THAAD missile stockpile. Annual THAAD production does not exceed 100 units. The cost asymmetry is what makes the depletion irreversible at current production rates. Each PAC-3 interceptor costs $3.9 million. Each Iranian Shahed drone costs between $20,000 and $50,000. The cost exchange ratio is 114 to 1 in Iran’s favour per Military Times. Iran manufactures an estimated 10,000 Shaheds per month per Reuters. America produces 620 interceptors per year. Iran builds more drones in a single week than the United States builds interceptors in an entire year. Every interceptor fired in the Gulf is one that cannot be delivered to Switzerland, Ukraine, Taiwan, Japan, or Poland. The State Department warned allies on March 27 that Patriot deliveries to Ukraine would face disruptions as the Pentagon prioritises Iran per Quiver Quantitative. Senator Chris Murphy said on record: “We’ve been told again and again one reason we can’t provide interceptors for the Patriot system for Ukraine is that they’re in short supply.” Lockheed signed a framework to quadruple production to 2,000 units per year. That capacity will not arrive for six to seven years. The Pentagon has asked Congress to shift $1.5 billion from other programmes to accelerate procurement per Bloomberg. None of this helps now. The interceptors are depleting now. The allied accounts are being raided now. Switzerland is considering reducing its F-35 order from 36 to 30 jets and accelerating evaluation of European alternatives per Bluewin and Global Defense Corp. Swiss parliamentarians have called the redirection “an unacceptable violation of procurement sovereignty.” The Swiss parliament is preparing formal hearings. Switzerland is the canary. A neutral country with two centuries of armed neutrality just had its fighter jet money taken without consent to feed a four-week-old war that burns 18 months of interceptor production every 96 hours. Every US ally with a pending defence contract should be asking one question: whose account is next? Full analysis: open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

When Willa Staats and her brother inherited their family's East Austin home and adjacent lot, they expected a windfall. Instead, they were hit with a $48,000 property tax bill, nearly 90% higher than what their father had paid and more than half of Staats' salary. As a longtime homeowner, their father had benefited from a homestead exemption capping annual tax increases at 10%. But when the property passed to his heirs, the taxable value reset to market rate, right at the peak of Austin's pandemic-era boom.

Wrong. This woman killed New Atheism. If you're not familiar with Rebecca Watson, she's a tenth-tier atheist blogger who kicked up a stink back in 2011 when she went to an atheist conference in Dublin and some dude hit on her in the elevator. She ranted endlessly about how "creepy" he was and how "unsafe" being asked out on a date made her feel and the incident was dubbed "Elevatorgate." Richard Dawkins waded into the fracas and suggested that being hit on in an elevator wasn't the end of the world. He asked you out, Becky, you weren't interested, end of. This caused everyone to FREAK OUT at Dawkins' "misogyny" and about the supposed problem with "misogyny" in atheism in general, leading large numbers of prominent atheists such as PZ Myers and Jen McCreight to split off into Atheism Plus. Atheism Plus was atheism with a rape whistle, its adherents more focused on fighting da patriarchy then with stuff that...actually has to do with atheism. That's why atheism collapsed in on itself as a sociopolitical force. The left, per usual, ate themselves alive.

@zeenuf00 @C130GuyBNA @mattforney Do you have an argument beyond "think how bad society would be if there weren't objective morals" That it would suck if there were no god doesn't prove the existence of god. That's cope, not evidence.

The thing is, a whole generation didn’t hate the Star Wars prequels. I was 18 when Phantom Menace came out, saw it opening night with a few friends from student res, and then rewatched it at least three or four times in the theatre over the next month or so. Pretty much everyone saw this movie (and EpII & III). Guys and girls. Nerds and casuals. Many went multiple times (the box office numbers prove this). The merch sold through the roof, every magazine featured cover stories with the cast, most casual fans thought Jar Jar was funny while the Star Wars nerds were obsessed with the tech behind the character. Girls loved Padme’s fashion while straight guys loved Portman. The online fandom was hyperactive with fan theories, fan art, etc with a very clear even split between the male/female demos. Fan and general public reaction was insanely positive. This particular scene became ICONIC. 98% of the negativity came from the professional film critics. TPM wasn’t perfect by any means but the media definitely tried to push the message that it was a disaster, Jake Lloyd sucked, and that Jar Jar was offensive and racist. This weird gaslighting that it was the fans who were negative and toxic is just current media trying to do damage control for just how negative they were at the time.

Ok, but 1) No one is kicking the rich off Social Security - just not giving rich couples $100k benefits that dwarf the poor. 2) EITC, child credit, mortgage interest deduction, UI, SSI, SNAP, Medicaid all continue to exist without providing huge upper-income benefits 3) Raising the FICA cap would annoy the rich as much as capping their benefits.

@C130GuyBNA @mattforney So you want there to be objective morals? Neat. How does that go to show that there are? Whole argument boils down to "there must be a god because it would suck if there isn't one." Piss poor reasoning tbh. 2) The Golden Rule is inherent in our universe and our position in it.

Morals derived by man aren’t objective. Objectively. Absent morality, you might have some passionate beliefs that they are of no relevance to me. Those are your rules with no consequence whatsoever since you have no influence at all over me. This is why when atheism dominates a culture (Soviet Union for instance) the government becomes God because it is the source of truth. If the government legalize child molestation then it’s legally/morally OK. Who is to say otherwise other than the government? Possibly some kid you molested has a father who is stronger than you and he prevents you from molesting his kid because he believes it is morally wrong even if you do not. Like it or dislike it, that is the hard truth for atheist, there is literally no such thing as truth/morality if you are an atheist. There is only what you personally believe, people that you are in community with have agreed to believe, and people who you have the power to dominate have been forced to believe/follow and that’s it. Cultures around the world and throughout history did not consider slavery immoral only undesirable (meaning “own the slave slaves don’t be a slave”) but then in the modern era, led predominantly by Christians and overwhelmingly from England, military, economic, diplomatic pressure forced that new set of moral beliefs on everyone so even to the present day most people agree slavery is bad… Unless you live in a country like Libya(or even Ethiopia who still has slavery they just call it different things to hide it) something that you find morally objectionable is not morally objectionable to them it’s simply something they tried to cover up to avoid penalty. Every serious atheist knows this. All of the halfway atheists, the college freshman atheists, the coffee shop atheists, they believe otherwise but serious, rational thinkers know that for the atheist “do as thou wilt“ is the whole of the law.

@C130GuyBNA @mattforney I have always thought this was a particularly terrible argument. 1) That I wouldn't like it to be true is not good evidence that it isn't. 2) morals derived from a god aren't objective 3) Ignores what the evidence actually tells us about existence.

It’s actually an interesting study in atheism. Apart from “what is legal” atheism by nature has no morality because there are no external requirements beyond “due as thou wilt“ as long as you can get away with it legally. All that you’re left with is survival of the fittest and as a female, if you cannot handle people either hitting on you in accordance with their biological imperative (in the absence of civility morals) or even a genuine aggressive approach (in the absence of chivalry/chastity morals) then you have no redress. There’s no moral code to appeal to (“you should not say blah blah blah to a girl“) so you either take care of yourself or admit that you deserved whatever you got. People love atheism but they don’t like the natural consequences of atheism. They like atheism as long as it is within the context of an overall culture of a Judeo-Christian ethics/society.

@TomQuick1756 @SteveLovesAmmo The north fought with one hand tied behind its back nearly the entire time. And even then, the south's hopes laid with the north getting bored or being saved by euros. You should read some history books (preferably the ones written by non-Jews). You’d be surprised to learn that the South always handed the North a thorough ass-whipping when the numbers were even. Lincoln famously said that the war would only end when he found a general who understood the "arithmetic" of using Union superiority in manpower to "send dead bodies north" (or simply "lose all") to win. The North was importing every immigrant that stepped off the boats and sending them directly into the fight. It took 4 solid years of this to finally get the South to surrender.
