@piersmorgan 12,410 in 1997 6,622 in 2020. Basically halfed the gun crime only people are getting stabbed, bombed, beaten, acid attacked and run over insteadit solved nothing I'd ask for the death penalty back but the government would use it for offense and misgendering.

"The Message." That’s the grift. That’s the Critical Drinker's entire business model summed up in a two-word calling card. But it's not just him. It's Nerdrotic. It's Geeks and Gamers. It's the Side Scrollers podcast, Sargon of Akkad, and that entire right-wing pop-culture outrage ecosystem. They don't even have to define what it is, or, like most anti-woke reviewers, actually care enough to engage with the narrative mechanics of a movie or game. It’s just a convenient straw man. The grift runs on this manufactured outrage. Instead of offering a real community to guys who miss the simplicity of the 80s and 90s, they offer a catchphrase. They blame a changing, diverse pop culture landscape to keep you isolated in the dark, hunting for a reason to be angry at a screen for two hours rather than just participating in society. This is a necessary cycle to break if you ever want to actually enjoy escapism again. Is "The Message" a real, foundational critique of modern storytelling? God no. But does it work to keep people angry and clicking? Hell yes it does. The problem isn't with modern filmmakers, it's with these outrage peddlers who DO NOT HAVE their fingers on the pulse of society at all. Give it a few years, and they’ll all be relegated to Third Rate, small-time comic conventions, sitting at fold-out tables where isolated guys pay them five dollars just to "say the line."

@AdrianneCurry @TheQuartering I think region plays alot into it. I get alot of palestine people and weird marxists in mine. So much so I think the UK has a more biased algorithim.

@Critical_Scribe Do you deny the message exists? Hollywood purposely focuses on it more than actual substance, creating things where things don't make sense character progression is wiped plotholes ignored

What an odd thing to fixate on while riding high on viral success. Full disclosure, I’ve read all the books so far and I’d say they’re pretty good. Not jaw droppingly amazing, but pretty decent romps overall. But this sudden shift kinda just tells me that the story is more likely to stick to safe edgy topics from here on and that’s disappointing, since I think it was doing well with having more universal themes to talk about. Maybe he felt compelled to do so out of fear of being cancelled for whatever reason. But, honestly at this point I find anyone fixating on The Critical Drinker and describing him as this uber destructive personality on media really hasn’t watched much of his stuff. Does he miss the mark? Yeah, and a decent amount at that, but he hasn’t really dropped “ThE MeSsAge” that frequently for a while now and yeah, sure he points out a continued trend, but should he stop doing that if it keeps happening? No one should frame their view of media from just one perspective, but I hardly believe that The Critical Drinker is the most harmful of the bunch anyhow. Very odd move here when all you could have done was just say nothing and no one would have cared.

Matt Dinniman, author of Dungeon Crawler Carl, has choice words for The Critical Drinker: "I regret that my books have any association whatsoever with him. I hope one day to have his part in book three removed all together. It's a distraction, and the only edgelord douchebag I want people to think of when they read my books is the AI itself." Why did he feel the need to do this?

@realninawysocka I think in isolation, it wouldn't have mattered. But with the state of the UK and competing narratives, I think it really does matter to a lot of people.

Starfleet Academy star Kerrice Brooks urges fans not to hate the show because of DEI: “If it’s not nice, like, let’s just talk about it. Don’t just say, like, I hate it because it’s DEI. Tell me you hate it because of something else, and then we can have a conversation.” Is DEI a valid reason to hate Starfleet Academy?

Lol, that's interesting since he was VERY excited to work with me and claimed to be a big fan when it benefitted him. Now that he's trying to break into TV, suddenly he's filled with "regret". Good luck sucking all that Hollywood dick, buddy. Hope it's worth it.

@TheEbonyMaw I assume he did it cause Drinker is an idiot and not worth the attention paid. Like Drinker is not known for being a gold critic, just a controversial one. He is just, a guy. So if he does regret mentioning him in his book, it's understandable

@TheCriticalDri2 According to Drinker's homophobic fan boys I used a homophobic slur. For once I agree they are an authority on something. Homophobia. They specialise in it.

@TheEbonyMaw AFAIK, Drinker has become very shitty in the quality of his criticisms over the last few years; proclaiming anything he sees as “woke” as terrible without any deeper critical assessment. That being said, this seem like a really extreme reaction from the author

@TheEbonyMaw People in hollywood/writer scenes have to see/hear you believe as they do. Literal cult shit you have to have pronouns in bio or do struggle sessions with 20 alphabet mafia people who hate you anyway, can't even be live and let live because silence violence apparently
