@RBReich Except, perhaps, the Saudis, Emiratis and the Qataris, together, invested, pledged and gifted Trump and his nation a couple of trillion dollars. Did they ask him and Israel to hit Iran? Not too far fetched a thought. My opinion.

So what will America have gotten out of Trump’s “excursion” in Iran? Zilch. Actually, less than zilch because in many ways we’re worse off than when it started. But that won't stop him from declaring "victory." Some thoughts... robertreich.substack.com/p/trumps-surre…

You can measure the ratio of fear to curiosity in any society. Just look at the ratio of the defense budget compared to the science budget. Humanity is still mostly fear-dominant. But we ARE changing that.

The collision involving an Air Canada Express aircraft last night in New York that claimed the lives of the pilot and co-pilot, and injured dozens more, is deeply saddening. Canadian officials are working closely with their U.S. counterparts on the ground as the investigation continues. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those impacted.

Iran is undeniably problematic, but let's be clear: It is Israel, (with the U.S.), that launched this particular war with its strikes on the Iranian leadership, and on its civilian and military targets. This led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which led to severe stress across the rest of the world. That act makes Israel public enemy number one, not just for the GCC but for the entire world, in my judgment. ~ Principles first thinking vs tribe first thinking. Sadly, in that region, generations of curtailed intellectual freedom have stunted rational, independent thinking to a troubling degree, in my assessment. ~ Note I do not know you I’ve never met you I do not follow you Your post appeared in my feed

“Iran is public enemy number one to all six GCC states.” @Abdulkhaleq_UAE says despite differences in approach, Gulf states are aligned and will use “every means possible” to secure the Strait of Hormuz.

One of the things I love most about Watch Week is discovering designs I didn’t expect. This @Chronoswiss piece immediately stood out - unique dial, great story, and exactly the kind of watch that makes events like this worth attending.

The poorer and more destabilized Arabs, Persians, ordinary Americans, and much of the global population become, the easier it becomes for Israel to influence, pressure, or subvert their societies and governments. With effectively unlimited access to U.S. financial aid, advanced military technology, and unwavering diplomatic protection, Israeli leadership faces few meaningful consequences from global public opinion or economic fallout. In this dynamic, prolonged regional chaos and widespread hardship serve—intentionally or structurally—to reinforce Israel's position of dominance rather than undermine it. My opinion, based on observing patterns of power and resource flows. ~ Note: I do not know you. I’ve never met you. I do not follow you. Your post appeared in my feed.

Interesting: Senior officials from Turkey, Egypt AND PAKISTAN (yes, PAKISTAN!!) held separate talks with White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian FM Abbas Aragchi - Axios reporter ON X. If true, it reveals an entirely new dimension to an off ramp dialogue. Thank you for your attention. #IranWar

Ian Israel will continue to systematically extract maximum resources from the United States—money, military support, energy access, diplomatic cover—regardless of the long-term damage inflicted on America or the wider international order. The more weakened and divided the Arab states become, the more exhausted and indebted the Persian Gulf becomes, the more financially strained and politically fractured American society grows, the greater Israel's relative power and leverage over all of them. Therefore, Israel has a structural incentive for this conflict to escalate and deteriorate as severely as possible. My opinion.

Don’t watch the headlines. Watch the signals: • Marine positioning timelines • Preparations across from coastal entry points • Air strikes shifting from disruption → destruction That’s not escalation. That’s preparation for a different kind of war.
