Initial VA reaction: -Turnout was to the right of both 2025 and 2024, closest to 2021. It’s quite likely that Youngkin won last night's electorate. -YES won because it massively overperformed Harris with Hispanic and Asian voters in NoVA, while also improving with Black voters.

In the most heavily Asian precincts in the state Yes was running ahead of Harris by upwards of *THIRTY* points and running ahead of even Spanberger in some cases which is just... completely insane everything considered.

If you have things to do, go do them. Republicans aren't outrunning their benchmarks by nearly enough for NO to win. Democrats look set to win the Virginia redistricting referendum, allowing them to temporarily redraw the congressional maps from 6-5 to 10-1.

New: Some Trump officials privately acknowledge that the president’s public commentary has been detrimental to talks, noting the sensitivity of the negotiations and the Iranians’ deep mistrust of the US. BART saw significant ridership increases across the system from Friday through Sunday as sunny weather and a weekend-long closure of a stretch of Interstate 80 in San Francisco prompted thousands of people to turn to transit as a reliable alternative.

This weekend is a GREAT time to ride BART instead of driving. Caltrans has planned a full weekend closure of EB I-80 freeway in San Francisco between from Friday, April 17, 11pm to Monday, April 20, 6am. The Bay Bridge will remain open. The good news is BART is here for you!
