Members of the J7 Task Force met with @UN Permanent Representatives from these seven countries in NYC today to have an open discussion about the rising crisis of global antisemitism. We urged these representatives to identify actions governments and international organizations can take to address antisemitism and to work for real accountability by UN officials to address antisemitism at the UN and beyond. ADL stands with our partners at @Chabad amid an uptick of antisemitic rhetoric and conspiracy theories about the organization, many circulated and promoted by Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens. Tucker Carlson devoted large portions of a recent show baselessly blaming the operation against the Iranian regime on Chabad, claiming it’s being driven by a sinister Jewish religious campaign. Candace Owens posted a thread warning users to "be aware of where the Chabad is nearest your home," stating that "these people are dangerous" and will "harm kids." Considering the alarming number of attacks on Orthodox Jews in recent years, these unfounded claims are deeply concerning.

Ironic that the UN Special Rapporteur on HHRR & Counter Terrorism cannot even acknowledge the Islamic Republic of Iran as what it is: the #1 state sponsor of terrorism and violator of Human Rights. The aggression the regime has shown towards its own people, Israel, Jews, and the Western world also goes unacknowledged.
UN Watch@UNWatch

No joke: Ben Saul, the U.N.'s special rapporteur on counterterrorism, rushes to support the Islamic Regime in Iran, the world leading state sponsor of terrorism. Ben Saul received $150,000 from China. (Source: Facts & Figures on Special Procedures, p.59 ohchr.org/en/documents/r…)

Just a few weeks ago, @ADL hosted an official side event at the @MunSecConf on the Iranian regime’s growing influence in Latin America. Why do I bring this up? Because it’s important for everyone to understand that the Iranian regime’s influence extends well beyond the Middle East and the Gulf. The Islamic Republic of Iran has been the leading state sponsor of terrorism and antisemitism for nearly half a century, and Tehran has expanded its footprint in Latin America through terrorist networks, alliances with authoritarian regimes, and ties to organized crime. On the propaganda front, the regime’s state-backed outlets like PressTV and HispanTV, which ADL has long reported on, spread antisemitic incitement and disinformation to millions around the globe. The regime is responsible for deaths across the globe, targeting Jewish communities in deadly attacks such as the 1994 bombing of the #AMIA Jewish Center in Buenos Aires. 85 people were murdered, making it the deadliest terror attack in Argentina’s history. Just two years prior, 29 people were murdered in an attack on the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires – carried out by Hezbollah, the Iranian regime’s Lebanon-based terror proxy. And now, adding insult to injury, Ahmad Vahidi, who was just named the new head of the IRGC, has been wanted by Interpol since 2007 for his alleged role in the 1994 AMIA attack. The regime continues to threaten not only Jewish, Israeli, and American communities, but international security as a whole.

When I sat down with Tucker Carlson on Wednesday, I was expecting a thoughtful conversation and that he would ask questions and give me the opportunity to actually respond--just like he did with the little Nazi sympathizer Nick Fuentes or the guy who thought Hitler was the good guy and Churchill the bad guy. What I wasn't anticipating was a lengthy series of questions where he seemed to be insinuating that the Jews of today aren't really same people as the Jews of the Bible. I'll first just say something I didn't think to say to Tucker, which is that Ashkenazi Jews, meaning those who families had spent centuries in Europe, are a minority of Israel's Jewish population, only maybe 35-40%. There are far more Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews inside Israel. But there's a good reason, as it turns out, that I had never encountered this theory that Tucker kept pushing on. That’s because it comes from some of the darkest realms of the Internet and social media. I think it's important to take a moment now and educate Tucker and anyone else who might get sucked in by this dangerous conspiracy theory, just as I have been educated this week. I'm sharing this information because it has been weaponized by very bad people to delegitimize Jews and strip them of their history. It's an idea that gained traction in the 80's and 90's with David Duke and other Klansmen and neo-Nazis. It has really caught fire in recent years on the Internet and social media, mostly from some of the most overt anti-Semites and Jew haters you can find. I don’t know why Tucker was so fixated on this, and I'm certainly not saying he knew the origins of this conspiracy theory. I don't know what's in his heart or what he was thinking. But I do know that the discredited idea that most Ashkenazi or European Jews descended from the ancient Turkic kingdom of Khazaria is bunk. It's also been weaponized by people trying to deligitimize Jews, to strip them of their history, and to call them "imposters" or "fake Jews." This odious conspiracy theory is peddled by the likes of Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes and by people who love David Duke, as well as Islamist accounts that make up false smears about Israel non-stop and are run out of countries like Pakistan and Turkey. But we know from genetics and rich volumes of written literature that the Jews of today can trace their lineage back thousands of years to the Israel and the Jewish people of the Bible. They are as connected together as genetics tell us that the ancient Khazar kingdom is to people living today in Turkey. And if Tucker wants to tour more than Ben-Gurion Airport on his next trip to Israel, I'm happy to show him places where Jews have lived going back to the time of Jesus Christ and even earlier. I sincerely hope Tucker will let me know when he actually wants to learn facts about the land and people. Asking me about conspiracy theories should remain on the fringes and not be the heart of the conversation.

Following the latest antisemitic remarks by @UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, we demand action. The J7 Task Force commends the governments of France, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy and the US for calling for Ms. Albanese’s resignation. We urge governments worldwide to demand her immediate removal or resignation. We also call on UN Human Rights Council member states to undertake immediate and substantial reforms. Yesterday, UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese appeared on a panel at the Al Jazeera Forum and declared that Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, is the “common enemy of humanity.” The forum’s main speaker? Khaled Meshaal, a senior Hamas leader. When will the world stop allowing Albanese to dress up hateful bias against Jews, Israel and endorsement of terrorism, as righteous indignation? ADL has long been calling for Albanese to be found in breach of the UNHRC code of conduct and to be separated from her mandate. Read more here: adl.org/resources/arti…

Just weeks ago, ADL urged permanent representatives to the @OAS_official to establish an annual Holocaust Remembrance ceremony as part of the fight against antisemitism in the Americas. Today, we joined the Permanent Council for a solemn commemoration. The next step is clear: institutionalize a day of commemoration to make it an annual observance. We thank @USAmbOAS, @ARGenOEA, @CanadaOAS, @ChileOEA, @CostaRicaOEA, @OEAGuatemala, @ParaguayOEA, Uruguay's @ccbarrientos, @Brasil_OEA, @OEAenEcuador, @PanamaOEA, @OEA_RDominicana, @PeruOEA, @HondurasenlaOea and @fernandolotten for helping to make this possible, and @SG_OEA_OAS for his remarks.
Albert R. Ramdin - OAS Secretary General@SG_OEA_OAS

Today at the Permanent Council, we commemorated the victims of the Holocaust. This remembrance must be more than a solemn act—it must be a call to vigilance and to action. The Holocaust began with words, with indifference, and with the erosion of democratic institutions. That history obliges us to remain alert to the warning signs of intolerance and hatred wherever they emerge. At the OAS, this responsibility guides our work: from the appointment of a Special Advisor on Anti-Semitism to our broader efforts to strengthen democracy, promote civic education, defend human rights, and combat all forms of discrimination across the hemisphere. Memory itself is a form of prevention. We must confront intolerance in our schools, our institutions, our political discourse, and our public spaces—and act collectively to ensure that genocide, persecution, and hatred, based on any ethnicity, race, or religion, find no space in the Americas. Not today. Not ever. See the complete video here:
