A week’s worth of work at @AdmiralMaltings condensed into 1 minute. Steeping, spreading, turning, sprouting, loading, kilning, and packaging. Floor malting is laborious but we love what we do and the quality of the finished product speaks for itself.

One of the things I find frustrating about the beer industry is that lack of financial benchmarks. I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve asked my bank or my accountants “Is this a good number?” and they come back with “Hard to say”.

COVID hasn’t really changed this perspective for me. I have still advised breweries to figure out how to deal in to go sales only rather than buy that van or hire that distributor, because you may be signing yourself up for years of swimming that you won’t let yourself quit.

@eoghanwalsh As a BIAB homebrewer... I’d really like to try one of these systems someday.

@CollinMcDonnell I think you’re right... but, anecdotally, there are brewers I’ve observed that have done surprisingly well during COVID because they were able to strike the perfect balance of taproom to distro sales before... and were then able to reallocate quickly. Don’t make me say pivot.
