This morning, I made an impromptu visit to our  Ministry’s ICT lab and interacted with visually impaired trainees benefiting from assistive technologies supported by the National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (@NITAUganda1). Encouraging to see tools such as screen readers and voice-enabled systems enabling independent computer use and access to digital services—practical steps toward an inclusive digital Uganda where no one is left behind.

According to reports, celebrated investigative journalist Solomon Sserwanja who is the executive director of the African Centre for Investigative Journalism is currently being monitored by Uganda's intelligence agencies after information leaked that he was among those working with foreign forces and NUP officials to distabilize Gen Museveni's govt in Kampala. Sources say the contacts he has in countries like German, United States and among decision makers in the European Union are the ones who facilitate his advocacy. It was because of that suspicion that Gen Museveni was involved as security planned to arrest him and he put the operation on hold as he did his counter-intelligence on what him(Sserwanja) and journalist Timothy Mujuni. were planning ,it was later discovered that the distance of the two was created by a hunger for money and power in their organization. Also under surveillance are officials at the Human Rights Network for Journalists (HRNJ), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which for the recent years has been advocating for the rights of journalists in Uganda but being funded by foreign elements.
