My blood pressure still spikes when I see how badly they fucked up the costume design with mesoamerican clothes. It's so ugly and inaccurate 😭 Once it comes to this place it seems the costume designers can't imagine the natives making detailed or neat clothing 🙃

The sun is powerful, yes, but it’s still a created thing. It doesn’t think, will, judge, or give moral law. It can sustain life, but it cannot explain why life, truth, or morality exist. Scripture addresses this directly: “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:25) The sun can’t ground logic, morality, or meaning, you’re using those while pointing to something that can’t account for them. So the real question is: why worship something that depends on laws it didn’t create?

The sun dictates our night and day. It is the source of life on earth. The trees, the flowers, and creation itself seek its light. Without the sun, we are nothing but dust. And the suns wrath is powerful to destroy us instantly. The worship of the sun seems pretty logical to me.

You can make a god out of a tree or a mountain if that’s enough for you, but I’d rather worship the Creator of those things

A question for my Mexican friends: Are there people practising the faith of Mexican deities such as Tezcatlipoca in the modern era? Has it established itself as a single contemporary faith, rather than as folk Catholicism or Mexican identity?

@Cg3Nug Depends as mesoamerican religion has survived in indigenous communities taking on a Catholic synchronization, In many communities, saints are often associated with names and attributes very similar to those of prehispanic deities

Mexican catholicism at its core is literally the synchronization of catholicism and Prehispanic Religions, in fact this one of the major reasons why it was so successful during and after the conquest.

@hispano_studies @AbbasiJuan Mexican catholicism is synchronized between catholicism and prehispanic religions, over the years the prehispanic elements have become less obvious, if you go back a hundred years the indigenous elements are more obvious.
