@Aziedownunder @InsaneFBposts @GergleBipper @traeshark And also that’s another thing, to follow a religion such as Christianity is more than having one general philosophy lmao so no one’s following Christianity just because they simply believe “treat others as you want to be treated” lol

@Aziedownunder @InsaneFBposts @GergleBipper @traeshark Ngl i don’t even understand what you’re saying with this one? He just agreed that Greek philosophy heavily influenced (just as Christianity has heavily influenced western philosophy according to you two) Christianity so why not credit them then?

@kingashtxn1 @InsaneFBposts @GergleBipper @traeshark Because the greeks didn't come up with, they stole it from the nords, who stole it from the Egyptians who stole it from the Jews who stole it from the Muslims who stole it from guess who, a Mesopotamian monotheistic Aztec tribal stone carving.

@Aziedownunder @InsaneFBposts @GergleBipper @traeshark If i wanted to,i could find similar doctrine in other moral systems/doctrine.Just because that popular system (saying really) has Christian origin does not mean the general idea of it is Christian only. Like i said if that’s the case, why not credit the Greeks for their philosophy

@InsaneFBposts @Aziedownunder @GergleBipper @traeshark So if that’s the case why can’t we argue that western civilization moral compass is created by Greek philosophy? That’s what i mean that the generalization just doesn’t make sense to me, because you’re giving credit to what you agreed is practical philosophy to one source.

@InsaneFBposts @kingashtxn1 @GergleBipper @traeshark This part, that's why I said if, because if was the key word, and Christian religion is a world religion, it's far more popular and accepted than others, if that wasn't the case, the moral compass he subscribed to wouldn't exist or it wouldn't have an important presence like now.

@kingashtxn1 @Aziedownunder @GergleBipper @traeshark I would say that Christianity, and the golden rule more specifically, synthesized a lot of the more practical and applicable lessons that older Greek philosophy landed on. Everything is derived from in part from something else, sure. But some things stick better than others.

@kingashtxn1 @InsaneFBposts @GergleBipper @traeshark The term you're referring to was coined by a Catholic priest turned Christian faithful and is popular due to Christian reach, it's definitely a key factor in the religion and definitely didn't have much presence if at any at all before the Christian religion started to preach it.

@InsaneFBposts @kingashtxn1 @GergleBipper @traeshark Me and you just posted the same thing XD, it started as a result of that one dude splitting off from the Catholic doctrine and was popularized by the spread of the Christian gospel and culture. I know that much at least.

@kingashtxn1 @InsaneFBposts @GergleBipper @traeshark Treating others the way you want to be treated is a western proverb that first originated in a Methodist Church started by an individual who was disappointed/dissatisfied with other doctrines so he left to start his own and was popularized across the globe due to Christian reach.

@InsaneFBposts @Aziedownunder @GergleBipper @traeshark Because for example, I’m not Christian, I’m an agnostic atheist. I believe in basically treating others as i want to be treated so i try to treat all people with respect and kindness because i would want that in return. Christian ethics are way deeper than tha

@TimeAlwaysTicks @Q_Review @realDonaldTrump About as meaningless as you claiming I said you said lmao, I know what I said but there's zero reason for me to respect you and keep my words because every sentence out your fingers is an attempt at an insult, a poor one, but an attempt none the less.

@kingashtxn1 @Aziedownunder @GergleBipper @traeshark The meme literally explains what we’re talking about. Western atheists think their moral compass comes from nowhere or “common sense.” The reality is that they are swimming in a culture steeped in Christian ethics, and they’re so used to it they reject that fact outright.
