MLA for Brandon West, Chief, Brandon Police Service - Retired, Manitoba, Canada. Husband, father, G-Pa and exceptionally average fisherman. tweets are my own.

The thing is, these percentages suffer from a base line fallacy. They don’t show us the actual numbers and except when break-ins went up in Strathcona and they want to emphasize it’s a small amount (from 7-10). 2/

Many congrats to the Reimer family on the passing of the Victims of Impaired Drivers Commemoration Day Act! And thank you to Brandon West MLA Wayne Balcaen (@Balcy2) for bringing such an important bill forward. May 1st of every year will now be dedicated to commemorate the lives of Manitobans lost to impaired driving. Wayne brought this bill—with the support of Portage la Prairie MLA @JeffBereza and our entire PC Caucus—in remembrance of Jordyn Reimer, Kelly Verwey, and all those whose lives were taken by an impaired driver. With that said, the fight against impaired driving is not over. Last week, the NDP government (for the 2nd time) refused to support a PC resolution calling for an independent review into why no charges were laid against an alleged accomplice in Jordyn Reimer’s death. Myself and our Progressive Conservative team urge the NDP to stop delaying Justice for Jordyn. #mbpoli

For the 2nd time, the NDP have denied Justice for Jordyn Reimer. Jordyn was a vibrant 24-year-old woman whose life was taken by an impaired driver at a Winnipeg intersection in 2022. Today, PC Justice Critic Wayne Balcaen (@Balcy2) introduced a resolution requesting an out-of-province review of the decision not to prosecute an alleged accomplice in Jordyn’s death. The NDP shot it down in front of her parents and family. Leader @obbykhan60 and MLA Balcaen later called out Wab Kinew and his justice minister for their lack of courage to ensure justice for Jordyn. And earlier this week, the Reimer family with MADD Canada held a ceremony to unveil a memorial bench dedicated to Jordyn in Transcona. MLA Balcaen attended. No one from the NDP showed up, including the justice minister and Transcona MLA Shannon Corbett. #mbpoli
