She was in a pedestrian tunnel when she encountered Yazied Mohamed, an 18 year old Eritrean refugee. He raped her. She reported it immediately. He was found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison. You would have thought that he would be deported afterwards. But no, the Swedish court ruled that although the crime was serious “the duration of the attack” was not long enough to warrant deportation. Yes, you heard that correctly. After presenting evidence beyond reasonable doubt, the Rukungiri District court found the young woman guilty and sentenced her to 6 years in prison. Evidence showed that the man has been taking care of her for 11 years till she graduated.
