Actually christianity began with a book, the Scriptures we call the Old Testament! It was these scriptures that the Church used to prove the Messiah Jesus fulfilled prophecy! Jesus planned ahead and left us a book and the Holy Spirit that birthed the Church and inspired certain men to write the New Testament!
