Garda Manhunt Intensifies After Two Officers Rushed to Hospital in Violent Monaghan Rampage Gardai are searching for a man in his 20s after a confrontation with plain-clothes officers escalated into a vehicle ramming that left two Gardaí requiring hospital treatment. The sequence began shortly after 11:30am on Thursday when officers on patrol in Monaghan stopped and spoke with a man in his 20s. During the interaction, the man allegedly became violent and assaulted one of the Gardaí before fleeing into nearby fields. An initial search failed to locate him. Around 1pm, a Garda patrol vehicle on the R184 at Tullycorbett, north of Ballybay, was rammed by a Northern Ireland-registered Audi car. Two occupants fled the scene on foot. One man, believed to be the passenger from the earlier incident, was later arrested in the area.A search is ongoing for the driver of the Audi. He is described as being in his 20s, of medium height and build, and wearing a dark grey tracksuit top with grey tracksuit bottoms. The two Gardaí involved, a male and a female officer , were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for assessment of their injuries. The operation involves uniformed and plain-clothes Gardaí from the Louth, Cavan, and Monaghan division, along with Regional Armed Support Units and the Garda Air Support Unit. Anyone with information or who may have seen the wanted man is asked to contact Gardaí immediately on 999 or 112, or Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200.
