I'm super excited to introduce the Lander Library. We created this tool to make funnel hacking incredibly easy. You can research competitors and get inspo for new pages in minutes. Here's how it works: ➡️ Search Any Brand: Type in a brand name and get an overview of their current landing pages, collections, and product detail pages (PDPs). ➡️ Detailed Insights: See the mix of post-click destinations, page details like title and meta info, and when the page was first seen in their ad library. ➡️ Preview and Interaction: Get a preview of both desktop and mobile views. Click through to interact with the actual page. ➡️ Brand Directory: Explore a comprehensive directory of brands, with fresh data added every time you visit. If you want early access to the Lander Library, drop ‘landing pages’ in the comments and I’ll DM you access to the library. I’d love to get you in and hear your feedback!

I am Ben Wolff and I build luxury treehouse hotels. I am a father, a husband, an NYU grad and a McKinsey dropout. I am equally addicted to golf and building 1 of 1 treehouse hotels. I have been told that I have a nauseating sense of urgency. This can be a blessing and a curse. After spending a large chunk of my 2019 honeymoon in an RV, broken down on the side of the road visiting national parks - I said, ‘there has to be a better way to enjoy nature’. So I set out to build a treehouse hotel. Along the way I cried in my wife’s lap more than once building our first property, Onera, in Fredericksburg, Texas. (Pictured below) I have only cried once building the second location in Wimberley, Texas. I feel confident that I won’t cry at all on our 3rd location. Say hi 👋

I'm aware that posting on LinkedIn can be great for my business. But here's the hurdle I can never overcome: it's lame as f*ck. I once wrote an essay about conquering your cringe to be successful. But there's something just so innately cheesy about being a LI influencer.

Agency owners who have successfully grown past $1M in annual revenue, what’s your best piece of advice?

@JasonJh1319 This is for PPC. In CRO we always do fixed fee structures, T&M worst case.

This. Thank you for being the voice of reason. Also, most agency owners still don't understand the full cost of actually running a business and how their value creation follows a diminishing marginal utility curve followed by a hard plateau when it makes more sense to in-house.
Taylor Holiday@TaylorHoliday

Agency owners. YOU WILL BE IN HOUSED or replaced if your fees continue to scale for the same service. You cannot take a disproportionate % of the brands revenue and survive. Not in this era. Here’s some math about why “scaling” an account won’t be justification for increasing fees. Imagine you start with a brand and they are doing $1M in revenue a month and spending $250k. A 4:1 MER. But they are stuck at this level. They can’t seem to grow further. For the sake of simple math we will say the brand is paying 10% of spend. Thats $25k/mth or 2.5% of their revenue. Now importantly let’s establish that the $1M in revenue breaks down 50/50 new vs returning revenue. Which gives us a 2:1 aMER (new rev over ad spend) which is roughly break even on first order. Now you come in and crush it. You double spend and maintain the SAME efficiency in the first month. Awesome job. But now let’s look at the numbers. You have now spent $500k at a 2:1 aMeR giving you $1M in new customer revenue. Add in your $500k in returning revenue and you have $1.5M in revenue on $500k in spend. A 3:1 MER. Now a 50% nCAC is not producing incremental contribution margin in the first month for this brand. Now your fees have grown to $50k and 3.3% of the revenue and the P&L has gotten worse (or just slightly better) at the end of the month. Now I understand all the logic around the future value of those customers and total dollars verses percentages but I’m just telling you that brands HATE this. They will always bee looking to replace inflating line items in their opex. Always. They will come for your fees before they cut internal headcount, offices or other expenses. Fair or not there is only one pie of money to draw from and brands rational want to keep as much for themselves as possible. If you find yourself with fees above 2% of revenue would think about proactively capping the amount or adding scope. P&Ls are super tight and cash is limited. The days of growing billables from $10k to $100k/mth for the same function are gone.

I'm surprised that beautiful residential architecture isn't more democratized. Check out this house designsetter.de/palms-residenc… It's stunning. Now that I've seen it, all the other houses look fugly. I'm going to be insulted when you invite me to your house and it doesn't look like this. This house costs 4x the design of a normal house. That's too much. Why isn't there a person-of-the-people architect that is building entire neighborhoods of these houses? Or just building 5 of them in the same neighborhood, lowering the cost to 2x a standard home? Is that an insult to the culture of architects? Why isn't there an architect who's opensourced their design (in the way software is opensourced or YC created the SAFE)? Abraham Levitt created cookie cutter houses in 1947. We need a modern day Levitt to make beautifully designed homes in America. P.S. Who is John Galt?

@sulemanali 100% feel the same way, the glass house is my dream home. I even have the land for it. I’ve got dozens of house pics like this saved from instagram. Comment in thread here says 75k for designs, why? If there are so many why shouldn’t someone be able to stamp these out?

Sponsors are a necessary part of conferences because it can be very expensive to put one on, and it's hard to break even on ticket sales alone. However, the sponsors will ask for a lot, which ruins many events. The main thing: speaking slots. At almost every event, sponsors get keynote slots and get to be on panels. It's pretty terrible. I've never allowed that at CXL Live, and it's also not the case with Spryng. No sponsor gets to buy a keynote.

Heard a great quote from Sahil Bloom — “There’s no losers at the gym at 5AM” He makes a compelling point. Most people who have the discipline to hit the gym at 5AM are most likely winning at life. This is how he met Tim Cook and ended up becoming his mentee. Pretty amazing story.
