So a gate machine could have a rudimentary check, if tapped on and not, London has this iirc, including with where tapped on (but don't quote me on that part)

@TheOpalUser @aussiewongm Yeah I don't think you could reverse it here (it was only 2.5 back there, not Finland), but in both they can check cards, but in Finland only 1/pp, while the other place was multiple/pp, but they still could check that
So I guess it's how many capabilities you give it /1

It should be interchangeable with the busses, but due to audio issues, I never particularly took a bus unless it was a single movement that was long enough

Different city I've lived, tram card readers on different trams could see if you had tapped in within an hour ago on a different tram (payment was hourly rate), and if it was past an hour, it charge, if it wasn't, it would just go "you checked on"

Having lived in Finland for a bit, with the card readers
They can use the NFC function on their issued phones to check the hard cards, but also your bankcard for if you tapped on
It doesn't actually show all the bank info on the card, but checks the fare
