Real Life Fake Wizard made a video recently talking about how bad writers default to "morally gray" protagonists because it removes the need for consistent values and a story that challenges those values, so there's no need for a meaningful arc. It's a lot easier to write a character who just does whatever the writer feels like because a character who can do anything is indistinguishable from a character who has no traits.

@BladeeInADress Where is the contradiction? I explained why the only unique metric sandbox games are to be judged by is maximizing imagination. And now I elaborate that is WHY its an inherently bad design that shouldn't exist in gaming

It is impossible for anyone to argue against making every game that relies on the player imagination the biggest most expansive it can be possible The player imagination is the border, at that point the game having one just stifles the other

@BladeeInADress Becauss games are unique in the way they can be automated. Unlike a game in real life, you dont need to socially agree to a rule with people, or buy into a rule, the rule is just an innate part of the software. THAT is what makes video games unique, and that is the strength

@BladeeInADress This is not an equivalent. An equivalent would be salting your own food vs it being salted for you. When you are salting it yourself, there is an impossibly large spectrum of salt you might prefer, so its logical to give you as much salt as possible, because YOU stop salting
