The first step is the hardest. It has now been taken. I recorded my first in-person interview for The Roman Forum podcast. The episode is about AI consciousness, so naturally I learned many important things, including: do not torture AIs, do not film in a park, do not sit three miles away from the microphone, do not continue recording while an airplane is attempting to become a co-host, and do not assume editing, equipment, lighting, wardrobe, sound, framing, posture, timing, and basic human competence will magically solve themselves. I had no prior interviewing experience. This will become obvious in places. But that is fine. I will get better. A lot better. Huge thanks to my guest for taking a chance on the first episode of a podcast announced on April 1st. That alone required courage, optimism, or poor risk assessment. Please be gentle in the comments.
