@FoodProfessor Are Canadian processors paying the industrial carbon tax? Get ready because with that tax, none of our manufacturers of anything can compete, they will all be closing their doors.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory We need more free enterprise, more competition in Canada and far fewer duopolies, monopolies and Laurentian oligopolies.
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory Obviously, it's still capitalism and rife with abuse and exploitation. But they don't intentionally sabotage their own homeland to extract as much profit as possible from them.
The US, Canada, and parts of Europe do, which is why private interests completely control everything.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory I assure you, Japanese corporations value profits as much as anywhere else.
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory Japan's culture values public service and improvement. The same can't be said for corporations in the west.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory JPN has one of the best transit systems in the world and it is all private corporations or quasi-government corporations that are required to pay back the cost of building.
Except, Kyoto which is on the verge of bankruptcy because the city built a subway that doesn't go anywhere
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory I always knew Canada was bad when it came to transit, but I never thought y'all would be as dumb as Americans.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory Not at all, profits and the profit motive is the only way to have good public transportation. Private money would never have bought those useless electric buses in Edmonton. Taxpayers got robbed; abused.
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory You don't see the problem in having PRIVATE entities with a financial interest in our infrastructure? You don't see how that could be abused?
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory Everything they invest in includes private, for profit partners. Anyway, getting some private capital into GO will result in better public transportation.
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory Crown corporations are not privately owned.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory Like everything the Canada Infrastructure Bank is involved in such as the GO Expansion?
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory Privately operated infrastructure is probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory So you are agreeing with Trump that the Canadian government to unfairly competing with the private bridge?
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory The Gordie Howe bridge, operated by a Federal Crown corporation will collect tolls of CND$8 for passenger vehicles. It will be user pay and the tolls will go back to Canadian taxpayers who paid for the construction. User pay public transit is the only way to make it sustainable.
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory Highways aren't the extent of road infrastructure. Besides, for tolls to cover the full cost, they would be much higher.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory City streets are paid by property taxes on private buildings and land adjacent to the street.
$50 toll for Confederation Bridge was appropriate. Politicians should not have lowered it to $20 to buy votes.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory Actually, I formally lived in a place where all the highways were tolled. It worked pretty well.
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory Alright, be prepared for the reality of just how expensive car infrastructure is to smack you in the face.
English

@HalkLovesTrains @CoopTory I would support user-pay or tolled highways.
English

@BrianABCS @CoopTory Roads are a massive money pit that are far from profitable. Why do you hold one to a specific standard while permitting the other?
