I don’t think that was the intent. Arkane clearly wanted the world to react to player’s actions. Things like “more rat swarms appear because there’s more corpses to eat, or you can find an enemy as a weeper later” is cool world reactivity.
It’s the multiple endings that misfire.

I enjoyed everything about Dishonored except the half-baked morality system. I think it was meant to give you a reason to use chokeholds and non-lethal takedowns, but it felt more like giving you a bunch of toys and then telling you not to use them.

@FartCursedBeast @TafferKing451 This is just a personal problem man. If you see a *completely optional* checkbox or challenge or whatever, and feel a compulsion to do it, it's not the game's fault that you then decided to pursue that compulsion.

- never reveal to you what the they track
- they reveal it in a more immersive way (i.e. NPCs telling you about your past actions)
The issue isn't the system. It's the amount it is revealed to you, and sometimes games need to show, not tell.

@utkuslasttour i found that a photo-sourced style is a very achievable workflow for a solo developer. from far away, photo-sourced models look very real as well, so you can sacrifice some polygons for textures

@CharlatanWonder Once again, I keep my opinion that the reason the Chaos system is so controversial is because the player is told directly that it exists via a pop-up window at the beginning of the game instead of finding out organically through gameplay

And then you do whatever you want, and at the result screen the game is saying "tsk tsk, you killed people, quite shitty of you actually 👎"

@TafferKing451 I don't even really mind that it changes the ending, I feel like the actual biggest mistake was just telling the player about it. I feel like the intention was to prompt repeat playthroughs, but instead most people just decided to try and get the best ending on their first time.
