@alanhinton11 @CharlesBamforth Wrote itself really, Alan. Such larger-than-life characters. I always talked boxing with Cloughie, Shanks and Dave Sexton, whose Dad Archie fought Jock McAvoy for the British title. Lost an eye in the ring and won the George Cross for bravery as a wartime fire fighter

Just met with my great oncologist Dr Lin who says I’m in great shape. Cancer free after almost 9 years after cancerous bladder and prostate removal. I’m so lucky. @AlanErrington @hattrup_peter @BritVoxUS

He was wonderful and the smile left his face only when I pointed to that huge photo of his goal at Wembley and suggested he didn't get many with that leg! He begged to differ!!

Your great Father was special. I was at Forest your Dad was starting his career at Notts County. Jeff Astle went on to be a top player. His life’s ending was so sad. He will always be remembered.

On this day, May 18th , Dad scored the winning goal in the 1968 FA Cup Final at Wembley. Dad was always very proud to represent his country but this was his proudest moment. Winning the cup he dreamt about as a boy & achieving the record of scoring a goal in every round 💙
