A year+ ago, a team from @ResearchKi — @Yonatan_Bilu , Guy Amit, @IrenaFrenklach, and myself — participated in, and won 🏆, the #SNOMED Entity Linking Challenge! We're excited to share that the paper describing the challenge and the winning submissions has just been published!

These findings highlight the complex and multisystemic nature of endometriosis. They also emphasize the need for a multidisciplinary approach to both diagnosis and management, one that takes into account a broader range of comorbidities than currently considered.

Our analysis confirmed known comorbidities (e.g., migraines and allergic disorders) and identified new ones (e.g., acute laryngitis, sinusitis, viral infections, and sciatica)

I'm excited to share my recent study with Chen Yanover and Vered Klaitman with perfect timing for Endometriosis Awareness Month. In this work, we explore endometriosis and comorbidities, providing additional evidence that endometriosis is a multi-system disease.

Just published: an @OHDSI network study that investigates the effect of feature selection on models’ external performance, across 4 countries: 🇺🇸US, 🇬🇧UK, 🇫🇮Finland, 🇰🇷Korea Led by @naderalvojoud, @tmboussard; w/ @TalElHay, @JGT_bio_eng, Byungjin Choi, Thomas Falconer, et al.

An exciting project in the making: Say you trained a classifier on your data, obtaining good performance. Next, you want to deploy it to a different environment but all you know – or can obtain – are limited statistical characteristics of the external data.

מחקר חדש שבוצע במכון המחקר שלנו KI Research Institute בהובלת Natalie Flaks-Manov ביחד עם Chen Yanover ו Inbal Goldshtein (Barak) מראה כי ילדים עם אלרגיה למזון, הם בעלי סיכון מוגבר לפתח תסמונות נפשיות של חרדה דיכאון והפרעות אכילה. המחקר בוצע על אוכלוסיה של למעלה מ 1.1 מיליון ילדים ובני נוער אשר מתוכם כ 23000 היו עם אלרגיה למזון. בשנים האחרונות ישנה עלייה מאוד משמעותית בתופעה של אלרגיה למזון, הסיבות לכך עדיין לא ידועות עד הסוף. האימפקט העיקרי של המחקר הוא בהמלצה להתייחס בטיפול ובהדרכת ההורים לילדים עם אלרגיה, גם להיבטים נפשיים ובמיוחד לנושא של מניעה של הפרעות אכילה. כל הכבוד נטלי, חן וענבל על המחקר האלגנטי ובעל האימפקט.

מה מחבר את מסלול מדעי היסוד לרופאים, מכון המחקר  KI, מחקר בפורמט OMOP של OHDSI,  שברים וסיכון לאוסטאופורוזיס? במכון המחקר שלנו KI Research Institute, אנו משתתפים בתוכנית מדעי היסוד של הר"י ו 8400, ומאפשרים לרופאים מתמחים לרכוש את הכלים, הידע, והניסיון הנדרשים לצורך ביצוע מחקר רפואי יישומי הכולל את היבטי ההטמעה ויצירת האימפקט. בשנת 2023 השתתף אצלינו בתוכנית ד"ר יונתן שוורץ (המדהים), מתמחה בכירורגיה אורתופדית, שעבר תהליך לימוד והכשרה למחקר על דאטה בפורמט OMOP של OHDSI.  מדובר בפורמט דאטה המאפשר ביצוע מחקרים במהירות יחסית, תוך פתיחת האפשרות לשיתופי פעולה בינלאומיים. המחקר נעשה על דאטה של כ 18 מיליון בריטים. לאחר תהליך ההכשרה יונתן בשיתוף צוות מנטורים מהמכון (תודה חן, ענבל), ביצע מחקר אשר הוא בעל פוטנציאל לשנות את הקווים המנחים של ההחלטה מתי להתחיל בבירור ובמעקב לגבי אוסטאופורוזיס, לא רק לגבי אנשים לאחר שברים אוסטאופורוטים אלא גם לאחר שברים שלא מוגדרים היום אוסטאופורוטים. תוצאות ראשוניות של המחקר הוצגו בתחילת יולי בכנס ברוטרדם, כאשר אנו מקווים שהמחקר המלא יפורסם ואכן ישפיע על הקווים המנחים בתחום. תודה רבה יונתן על תקופה נהדרת. נשמח מאוד להנחות רופאים מתמחים נוספים בעלי ניסיון בעיבוד נתונים ו/או תכנות בשלב מדעי היסוד. אחד היתרונות במחקר בפורמט OMOP הוא העובדה שבתי החולים הממשלתיים, כחלק מפרויקט כנרת המדהים של משרד הבריאות , המירו את הדאטה שלהם לפורמט הזה. לכן הידע והניסיון שצוברים בעבודה בפורמט הזה, יכול לשמש במחקר בתוך בית החולים ובתקווה גם שבוגרי מדעי היסוד אצלינו יטמיעו וילמדו קולגות נוספות שלהם מבית החולים כיצד לחקור על הדאטה.
