@EPotterMD In UK, there is no NICE guideline on lymphoedema management and not invested in. I wish it can be captured and be given the attention it needs. Woman with cancer can benefit as manual lymphatic drainage isn’t enough

Another peer-to-peer call. The reviewer was kind. Really kind. But, respectfully, not my peer. He listened as I explained why my patient needs lymphovenous bypass surgery. It’s a surgery that can treat the painful swelling in her arm caused by breast cancer treatment and prevent it from getting worse. She has done everything right. Compression. Therapy. Expensive garments. She’s changed her life to spend an hour a day with every resource she can afford. It’s affecting her ability to work as a nurse. And she is getting worse. This is the window where we can fix it. Early enough that surgery can actually change the course. We can do this surgery outpatient. Two hours. CMS even has a code for it. The man on the phone agreed it would help her… But he couldn’t approve it… Because he’s not a plastic surgeon and doesn’t have the specific knowledge necessary to make this recommendation. He gave me the help he felt he could. He told me to appeal and told me not to expedite it, because that wouldn’t work in my favor. Every human involved in this case knows what we should do. But the system is inhumane.

@alisonleary1 20 years in the NHS. Doctors are important but without non doctors patients would not be able to survive . The boots on the ground checking for pressure ulcers, carrying all ADLS, comforting, giving medications, physio, OT, social workers, age uk , nurses and carers are non drs.

@DrSteveTaylor Doctors are important but they do not do the bedside washing, dressing , manual handling, giving medications , checking for pressure ulcers, arranging safe discharges, speaking to care agencies and other HCPs. Are you suggesting that doctors should start doing this?

@alisonleary1 Yet many employers and patients treat staff like gum under their shoes. Many don’t appreciate, misuse the service and eyes would pop out if they are presented with a bill for services rendered.

A coworker died yesterday morning😭. HR knew by 9 :00 AM, but they kept us working all day. They finally told us around 4 :30 PM, then had the nerve to say, "You can head home early if you need to"—knowing we all finish at 5: 00 PM anyway. This morning, it’s back to "business as usual." Some of my friends are literally sobbing at their desks, but they’re expected to work and be productive. No time to grieve. It’s a cold reality. Within a week, the company will have his job posted online. Within a month, someone else will be sitting in his chair. But his family ,his children will still talk about him every day, they will ask where is daddy , His wife will mourn him for ages ,he was the love of her life . At work, we are just a "resource" that can be replaced in a week. At home, we are the world. Stop giving your best energy to a desk that will forget you, and giving the "leftovers" to the people who never will.

@BBCBreaking @itvnews could you do an investigation on Debenhams please? They haven’t sent items, didn’t refund the money they charged. They are claiming they cannot refund the money because it’s a month old. I don’t understand how they can charge for something and not supply

On Wednesday night, a young woman went to a Gunna concert at the O2 in London. She felt something oozing down her leg. Behind her, a man had ejaculated onto her. She turned and saw his penis sticking out. She immediately reported it to the venue security and he was caught going to the bathroom to clean himself. He is now in police custody. It is not even possible to go and watch a concert without someone ruining the evening.

@ronkelawal She didn’t want to be an aunty. 😝 . I used to do the same as that a how we adress older people as aunty or uncle. Not anymore except when invited to.

An NHS healthcare assistant has been awarded £1,425 in compensation after an employment tribunal ruled she was subjected to harassment by a colleague who repeatedly called her 'auntie'. 😭🤭 independent.co.uk/news/health/nh…

@danielgoyal As nurses, we have to declare any gifts and can’t accept anything above £20 but the fat politicians have money to buy lunch , 2-3 houses and accept 🎁. Talking about stepping on our necks. I despair that NHS is being given back to these muppets.

So, as a doctor I can’t accept a plastic pen from a pharmaceutical company because it might influence my prescribing decisions, but MPs can accept thousands in cash from those who want to privatise the NHS and it won’t affect their decision-making??? CTFO thenational.scot/news/25967768.…
