Jesus died and arose and is now enthroned as King. If you believe and place your fidelity, allegiance, and loyalty in him you will be a citizen of the kingdom of heaven. This will be the best possible life on this earth and also in the new earth when the king returns.

@A_Contino @wendelltalks Of course not. I understand there are different ways to understand the scriptures about the earth being fixed in place and do not have to insist on a hyper-literalist reading of them. Just like Genesis 1.

If you don't believe the earth is fixed in place on pillars then you do not believe the Bible is literally true. See Psalms 104:5, Job 38:5-6 and others. But I don't expect you to actually engage this point, because your type will switch to arguing some other topic like eschatology in the attempt to run away from defending your position.

@Chuck___Johnson @wendelltalks I never said anything about flat earth. Nor do I believe that. The bible makes great details of every generation up to Jesus. A careful study of this and you will see that the age of earth is expected knowledge. Just like Christ expected Isreal to know when he first came.

@lame_old_guy @wendelltalks Ken Ham is a divisive Christian. Not a scholar of ancient Hebrew nor ancient near eastern culture. I'll trust the real Hebrew scholars long before a divisive fundamentalist.

This is a very bad argument. Because the Bible does not say what the age of the earth is. Would you also insist that the earth is fixed in place and resting on pillars? Or do you believe in a spherical earth? The Bible is actually more explicit on this than the age of the earth but Christians have no problem with a spherical earth. Using your logic you'll have to insist on the flat earth model as a biblical authority issue. Stop being divisive in the body of Christ.

@wendelltalks Authority. 1 if you can't trust the first words in the bible how do you say with any conviction we should trust the rest. 2 it is foundation to understand God's plan throughout time. 3 Jesus says I am the Alpha and the Omega the beginning and the end. He puts his stamp on it.

This freedom and joy will not come by living a perfect life based on the teachings of your friends, your parents, or your church. It will not come by getting better at your Christian life. It will not come from your fellow man, even from your brothers and sisters in Christ. You can get your outward life all lined up fairly well by trying very hard to always doing the right thing. Eventually you can train yourself to look and act like a “good Christian person”. If you read the first verse of chapter 12 and stop there, you may be able to keep up this facade by your own strength or endurance.

@aigkenham It will all be for naught unless proper hermeneutics are taught, i.e. studying scripture in its original context. At which point you will find out that Genesis does not say what Ken Ham tells us it says.

And, by the way, no YEC believer has adequately responded to the fixed earth controversy. Because the same literalistic interpretation of age of earth, if applied to the fixed earth scriptures, require the YEC believer to believe in a fixed earth. Welcome to the flat earth society 🤣

This is similar to the "fixed earth" debate that raged for centuries. The Bible plainly states that the earth is fixed on pillars and cannot be moved and anyone who said any different was persecuted by the church. Now we understand those verses can be interpreted differently. Just like your insistence on YEC, future fundys will accept an old earth and hold some other pet belief just as hard.

Lordship salvation describes the biblical fact of faithfulness to our Lord Jesus Christ as an essential part of Christian life. It is absolutely biblical, and lack of this allegiance and loyalty to Christ is evidence that a person is not saved. There is nothing inherently dispensationalist in it.

Most Christians probably don’t realize that the so-called “Lordship Salvation” doctrine arose out of an intra-dispensational controversy and is not a properly Reformed category. If the distinctions of Reformed soteriology had been better understood, there would likely have been no need to invent “Lordship Salvation” in the 80’s–90’s. See Horton’s helpful volume for more.
