From Commitments to Accountability: Civil Society Charts Africa’s Path to COP30 At yesterday’s Non-State Actors Dialogue on the Africa Climate Summit II (ACS2) Declaration, diverse clusters — from children and health advocates to biodiversity and faith networks — converged to assess one critical question: 👉 Are Africa’s climate commitments translating into measurable action? Key insights from the dialogue: - Multilateral reforms must prioritize grants over loans to prevent deepening Africa’s debt burden. - Implementation must shift to the country level, where accountability and community participation can take root. - Health, children, and biodiversity are now integral to Africa’s climate governance architecture. - Non-state actors remain the moral compass pushing governments from rhetoric to delivery.
