@SportTheory101 @CoachBFen I didn’t realize posting his research paper wasn’t giving him proper credit. My bad Coach, obviously not my intention!! Not a scholar, so don’t understand proper reference citations…I just do it like we do in coaching🤷🏼♂️
He’s on X every few days, so he’ll see this then😉

A foul up 3 coach…I like this guy!!
I’ll attached Coach’s research paper. He chooses 7 sec as his threshold, I use 8. If you foul too early you might have to go through same scenario again, or leave time for a UConn-Duke like ending. Just something to think about

Duke apparently doesn’t adhere to the “Fenlon Rule”. Fouled too soon up 3 leaving time for the Mullins bomb. Coach Bill Fenlon was Brad Stevens’ college coach. Butler executed the Rule perfectly to defeat MSU in the ‘10 Final Four. See the Rule below:

Azavier Robinson would be a great get for Northwestern. Over the last few years, Northwestern has done really well with Indiana based players.
Robinson is a former 4 ⭐️ who averaged 6 PPG this year on 43% shooting. Has three years of eligibility.
Also had a great game against Tre Singleton in the 2025 IHSAA 4A Playoffs last year.

Butler guard Azavier Robinson plans to enter the @TransferPortal, he tells @On3. The 6-2 freshman is a former 4⭐️ recruit. on3.com/news/butler-gu…

@Ozzie14NMU4 @Coach__Strick @Mr8142 the reason you foul up 3 is to not give up a bad shot that could tie you. Why would you foul up 2 and give up 2 shorter unguarded shots that will tie you. Can’t buy it in any alternate reality!!!

The Final Four last shot, this time with Al McGuire’s commentary and the camera focused on the ref and scorekeeper. Great drama! youtu.be/8HxwslRZncw?si…

52 years ago today, Marquette took on #1 NC State for the national championship in 1974. The game took place in Greensboro, NC, making it a literal home game for David Thompson and the Wolfpack. The emotional Al McGuire would play a key part in the outcome…..This would be a great place to start a movie about Al McGuire. 😉😉❤️❤️
Marquette would play State tough for most of the first half until two technical fouls on Al McGuire led to a 10-0 run for NC State and a halftime lead of 39-30. The Wolfpack would take 34 foul shots in this game to Marquette’s 21. The Warriors were called for 29 personal fouls compared to 17 for NC State.
The second half NC State controlled throughout, leading by double digits most of the half. The final score, NC State won 76-64 to capture their first title. The game also marked the first time in 7 years UCLA did not win the title.
“I would say I lost the game there” - Al McGuire referencing the two technical fouls
“I finally broke the schneid and got two technicals, but that wasn’t done on purpose. I just got violent, trying to get an understanding of the game. Maybe I lost my composure. I guess I just blew it.” - Al McGuire
“This was not the right time or place for us tonight, but we will be back sometime in the future at the right time and will get it done.” - Bo Ellis

@CoachBrotherton 🏀Theory: Foul up 6 w :15 left!
A variant of @CoachBFen advocacy for fouling up 3 in last 5-7s. They basically need 2 3-pt shots. The 2 FT cutting lead to 4 requires denying inbounds/steals twice ala Reggie Williams.
Good theory Coach. #D3hoops @BQuillmanQcast @Ozzie14NMU4

End of Game Situation:
Tennessee up 6 with under :15 left. Player accidentally fouls near half court with :11 left. Announcers call it a huge mistake.
Unpopular opinion:
Fouling up 6, with under :15 is actually a smart move. More teams should do it.

Wild to think if Keelan had the soph yr he did at IWU, in today’s world, he’d have transferred to Northwestern or Wisconsin. After playing a year of JV, that’s insane.
Adam does what he does and he ends up in Big East.
Those two were just different.
Scott Trost was that dude.

All-time single season 3-point FG leaders for @IWUBasketball: 1. Jordan Zimmer: 107 (2011-12) 2. Keelan Amelianovich: 97 (2005-06) 3. Casen Lawrence: 88 (2025-26 in progress) 4. Brady Rose: 85 (2018-19) Casen Lawrence is 88 of 220 (.400) from 3 this season. Continues to hit enormous shots for the Titans. @casenlawrence22 #d3hoops

@BQuillmanQcast @d3hoopsville Whoa..might wanna check the old epidermis thickness there Q…throw away line by Dave! See you in FW!

Two things:
1) Extremely bizarre comment by @d3hoopsville: "...even if the last championship, no disrespect, was a while back."
IWU has a really successful program - regularly wins CCIW titles and goes deep in the NCAA tournament. Has good kids, does things the right way.
Dave is taking a shot that the Titans have not won a national title since 1997. Why in the world would that fit here? Look at Ron Rose's face...sheesh.
2) Jackson Niego is a #whyd3 guy. IWU is lucky to have a bunch of guys like this every year.
