Great look at 2 things…
1. Release is vertical at defender.. on the attack mode and freezes CB.
2. GREAT look at winning leverage and using what I call “lean and lift” technique against match cov to gain ground while holding leverage and then snap off w/ violence!

My personal opinion as a QB coach.. but I think CK has some of the cleanest mechanics. Sequence is smooth, stays tight, powerful torque & rotation while staying centered, tight/relaxed front 1/2. Most of all, not pushing back from front leg. Front leg strong & weight transferred!

Full speed & stride thru our reception, drop stepping, sudden and violent breakpoints.
We must have a plan after securing our reception. Anyone can be a reception receiver. What can you do with the ball in your hands? We need explosives!!

The hardest thing in any career field IMO (especially coaching) is to uphold a standard of excellence and make everything you do first class when those around you choose to lower the standard and allow mediocrity. Constantly fight the battle to give in to your surroundings!

To the wiggle monsters and lateral drill artists—this is the non-negotiable foundation before any COD work:
The mentality AND the technical ability to attack vertically with full commitment.
No vertical threat = no respect = no space to wiggle.
Get violent north-south first.

Some examples… smooth, consistent, and compact for uncoiling with explosiveness!
It’s different from the traditional teaching, but if you can have an open mind I haven’t had any QBs that don’t love it!

Converted mainly to the shuffle rather than the 3 step for a couple of reasons..
1. Like Kurt said, maintain balance throughout - specifically in the shoulders and upper half stays steady.
2. Quicker to get back foot in the ground if throws are needed before anticipated.

Study the QBs with the most torque and smooth rotational throwing mechanics… this is the pattern. @QuinnEwers is a prime example

Former NFL QB Davis Webb. Observe the action of the back foot. It doesn’t turn toward the target; instead, it snaps backward, establishing an anchor that generates torque, which then travels up the chain.

Major difference of coaches who coach skills in Individual that show up on tape, rather than taking a skill you see in game and making a drill after the fact so you have something to clinic on!
