0-10, 1-9, 2-8 coaches are often times coaching harder on a daily basis than coaches who are 10-0, 9-1, 8-2 etc. No one wants to lose and just because your record isn’t great doesn’t mean you can’t coach

Am I the only one who cringes at this? If QB keeps the ball, he gains at least 4 and maybe gets close to the first down marker. He throws it 10+ yards backwards for an extra 6 yards. Protect the football!

@CoachShiffman Chutes are generally useless. The lineman dip their heads every time. I see it at the college level too

@CoachShiffman If you run the veer, chutes and sleds are essential. Board drills are more useful than 1v1 pass rush. In short yardage scenarios, your stance should change. “Roll your hips” is not a useful coaching cue.

Away, but get the back out of it. Use backfield action to carry flow away from the ball. Treat it like a bubble screen with way more grass. Why carry the defense to where the ball is going? Let your dudes be dudes in the open field.

Football is the most important program in your school. It sets the tone for an entire school year. Schools that invest in paying coaches and buying equipment for their football program reap the benefits 10 fold. Schools that don’t are kidding themselves.
