@CosmicArc_ Is the image you showed originally spacecraft possible debris from reentry?

@CosmicArc_ @VFacure sending a probe is one click in terra invicta but in real life we dont even have a solid idea of what's just under the surface across a huge chunk of the earth. and thats with hundreds of years of geological surveys

Why do Mars colonization discussions always assume that ALL the supplies have to be imported from Earth?
Delta9250@deltaIV9250
If Starship had Falcon’s cadence and V4’s payload figures are true then it would take 180 years for SpaceX to move 1 million tons and build their “city on mars” Which sounds bad but consider, in The Expanse, mars is independent in the 2220s. The timeline lines up lol. Spooky.

@BanhmiBrieoche Yes, it's a precaution, but this shouldn't discourage us from finding solutions if such problems arise
English

@CosmicArc_ I think its just good to always assume things are going to be shitty. Assume its really challenging and hard to get water and methane extraction going on a large enough scale. Assume Martian soil is really hard to work with. Assume our rockets are really inefficient etc etc

@CosmicArc_ If you say "ISRU" to a normie they say "gazoomtight"
English

@ContractorDirty Tbf most of the advanced materials like computer components and spacecraft hardware would need to be imported from Earth at least in the early days
English

@CosmicArc_ Its the Dunning-Kruger effect. A lot of people aren't really interested in the subject and have never looked into it. They dont know what ISRU means or that 60 yrs of research has been done on this stuff.

@Starfleet2269 Probably confuse moths who rely on the moon's white light for navigation
