If you’re planning to Japa, here are some words you must know before you leave. If you’re planning to Japa but still confuse PR with POF, we need to talk. 😅 Because in migration, the wrong understanding can cost you your dream. I’m not joking oo Let’s do a quick class; 1️⃣ PR (Permanent Residency) The golden ticket. It means you can live, work, and study in a country indefinitely — without being a citizen yet. Think of it like “permanent visitor rights” until you get the passport. 2️⃣ CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) Canada’s point system. You’re scored based on age, education, work experience, and language test. The higher your score, the faster your invite to come over. Don’t play with this one oo 3️⃣ POF (Proof of Funds) This one confuses many people 😭 It simply shows you can afford to survive after landing in the country. They want to see how much money you’ve. No, you can’t borrow the money for one week and return it. They check for consistency. Who do you want to deceive?😂 4️⃣ SOP (Statement of Purpose) This is your migration story in words — why you want to study or move. It’s not an essay for vibes. It’s your chance to convince the visa officer that you’re intentional, capable, and serious. I usually advise people to share their story on their SOP. 5️⃣ PGWP (Post-Graduate Work Permit) For students moving to Canada: this is what lets you work after studying. The longer your program, the longer your permit usually up to 3 years. 6️⃣ LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) For those on work routes — it’s Canada’s way of checking if hiring you won’t take a job from a citizen. If approved, you’re good to go. See how they care so much about their citizens but I know a country that’d rather give a job to a white person than its own citizen. Well… 7️⃣ IELTS (International English Language Testing System) The test everyone loves to hate 😭 It measures your English skills — and yes, it matters a lot. Read well and give it your best shot. You think you know English until the take IELTS exams 😂😂 There are other words and acronyms that you must get used to as an intending japarer. Aside the furnishings. To people who have always been saying nonsense about needing 50-70m before building a house. You don’t need that big money you want before you build a place to lay your head. Leave all these clowns online who don’t even have a land and look for a good bricklayer and carpenter. You all should learn to start small most especially if you are just starting your life❤️
