Most people might miss the biggest benefit of sauna
You need to get really really hot…
Your core body temperature needs to hit 102.4°F (39°C).
For reference, a fever is anything above 100.4°F (38°C)
So I swallowed a temperature monitoring pill. It goes through your digestive tract and precisely measures your internal temperature every 30 seconds.
When your core body temperature hits the goal of 102°F, your body releases these proteins (heat shock proteins - HSPs) that clean up your body’s debris.
I was curious what time my body hits this goal because up until now, I’ve been doing 20 mins of 200°F dry sauna.
… it turns out it takes 31 minutes
It feels like you’re dying.
I didn't expert such pain and panic.
Before this experiment, I did over 200 sauna sessions at 200°F for 20 min.
This means I likely never achieved the heat shock protein (HSP) threshold at 102.4°F (39°C), which deprived me of so much sauna-health goodness.
If your sauna doesn’t heat up to temperatures allowing your core temperature to reach 102.4°F (39°C) or you struggle to tolerate heat, do not be discouraged. The dry sessions I did at 200°F (93°C) for 20 min still showed incredibly health benefits.
My previous 20 min sessions still showed:
1) 10+ yr reduction of my vascular age
2) 87% reduction of microplastics
3) detox of environmental toxins
4) fertility marker improvement
Will report back once I have results on this new protocol…

@thats_bb_suzyn Assuming the price is the same (ish?) I’ll take rays all day. I’ll take the kids and prefer a win over seeing some buildings

Pick your poison:
(1) Your lifelong team since childhood is the Pirates or Rockies. Noncompetitive almost every year for the last 30 years. But the stadium is gorgeous. Even when the team stinks, it’s a great place to spend 3 hours of your time, bring the kids, make memories.
(2) Your lifelong team since childhood is the Rays. The front office is filled with analytics geniuses. You’re in the playoffs about half the time. Hal Steinbrenner is openly jealous of how you can win more games than the Yankees with a fraction of his payroll. But the ballpark is a dump, it was obsolete before it opened, possibly the worst place on earth to spend three hours of your day.

@JamesDowning12 @Eamon_K_ This is legit out of control though. Is this typical public transit? Idk what this is exactly
English

@JamesDowning12 @Eamon_K_ That’s hilarious. Do it and make it a spectacle online

@JamesDowning12 @Eamon_K_ There’s a reverse Boston tea party joke in here somewhere

@TourSwingsTommy Lot of obvious ones but I’m surprised by several of the right answers: Rory 😂

Augusta Diaries Tue
-Today was kind of the big practice day for me. I warmed up and went to the back nine. Some guy named Rory went just ahead of me. I thought about asking to play together but I figured he wanted to play alone and I wanted to hit a lot of shots around the greens.
-Tried to hit a lot of chip shots with couple different clubs to see which club might be better and what not. Also hit a lot of the typical putts on the greens. Good thing about aimpoint is that I can write down pretty specifically on what % slope I think it is. Very useful especially with a lot of the putts coming from similar spots each yr. A guy like Phil had written down copious amount of notes in his yardage book.
-I hit the skip shot on 16. I can’t ever get myself to hit it hard enough because I’m afraid to not hit the water and hit one of the patrons. My caddie also tried it… he has the opposite problem. He hasn’t hit the water either time lol. Bunkers both times.
-Then hit a few more golf balls with my swing coach Sean Foley. Wasn’t too much different stuff. It’s a little tinkering of feels here and there but the big stuff doesn’t change.
