So now we are refusing opioids to burn victims, cancer patients, sickle cell patients, orthopedic surgery patients - because of the alleged "risk of addiction" that remains less than 1% of patients prescribed an opioid and followed by a doctor? The inhumanity will be the downfall of our civilization.

@CMerandi Yes. Numerous federal, state, local, and private entities (+50 total) play roles in the healthcare process from appointment to prescription, at least in my situation. It’s about money, power and control.

@CMerandi @blu_noz_pitbull They seem to think we just dropped out of the sky. They never consider that the “alternatives” they think are new, were already ruled out at the beginning of our journey. For most of us, opioids weren’t first-line treatment. They were last resort after every alternative failed.

@PiecesofMargo It’s been done before. Millions of pain patients- from post op to injury to cancer pain- lost their medication when the Obama administration made similar “recommendations” in their “voluntary” 2016 CDC guidelines. DEA enforced “recommendations” as de facto law.

@Darkmdd @SenMarkey They are some of the slimiest, most sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, arrogant, dismissive, condescending, paternalistic, intellectually dishonest, bureaucratically cruel, self-righteous, control freaks out there. 😤

Wait until it comes out the Andrew Kolodny was working with @SenMarkey in the de facto Opioid prohibition 💊👇 It has killed thousands and millions suffer Conflicts of interest in all industry must be exposed and punished in the severest of terms
Christopher's Organic Botanicals, LLC@Kratomlife420

Andrew Kolodny profited as an expert witness in opioid trials, misleadingly testifying on behalf of those allegedly harmed. He also consulted local governments for settlement funds. His financial conflicts were twice sanctioned by peer-reviewed literature groups.

@joeroganhq Yeah good luck with that. Now they say things like “Guidelines”, “voluntary”, and “recommendations” but the DEA hears “Law”. Did they learn nothing from the millions of patients screwed over by the 2016 “voluntary” prescribing guidelines”?

@life_is_art___ @Irishbrat1966 Are you, like me, about to pull your hair out seeing the exact ppl who led the suffering via opioid prescribing👇&/or narratives acting like we didn’t warn them? At min, they silently went along & cashed in at our expense! Has even one come back & admitted it? Or apologized?

Another hypocrite! How did we know opioids were being overused? We (I mean apparently you, Dr. Shanker) trusted the lawyers suing them? Like RFKjrs co-workers that use stats and “biostitutes” to push an overreaction and hysteria? To sell a simplified narrative meant to demonize an industry?!?

Lets remember that @SecKennedy hasn't actually proven that antidepressants are being overused. That is simply his opinion. Again, he talks about 'gold standard' science, but never actually forces himself to use it.

@thekratomcowboy Let’s not forget, no one is tracking outcomes for the people who depend on Kratom for functionality. Those of us who fell prey to the misapplied 2016 prescribing guidelines gained quality of life with Kratom. A lifeline they banned without a single thought for our wellbeing.

At first glance, it sounds alarming. Dig deeper, and the conclusions fall apart under basic scientific scrutiny. 🔬 This is NOT a safety study. It’s a retrospective analysis of poison center call data—a passive, voluntary reporting system. That means it measures who called poison control, not actual incidence, not causation, and certainly not population-level risk. 📉 No denominator = no risk assessment. They don’t know how many people are using kratom in each state. So claiming “higher rates” of harm is meaningless without knowing exposure per user. ⚠️ “Exposure” does NOT mean kratom caused anything. Only ~61% were single-substance cases. That means nearly 40% involved other drugs—opioids, alcohol, benzodiazepines, etc. Yet the headline implication blames kratom. 🚫 The “ban states are safer” claim is deeply flawed. In states where kratom is illegal: Users are pushed underground Less likely to call poison control Less likely to disclose use That’s called reporting bias, and it completely undermines the conclusion. 📊 “Severe outcome” is a broad, inflated category. It includes anything from significant symptoms to life-threatening events and death—all lumped together. That’s not how you establish clinical risk. 🧪 The study ignores the most important variable in the entire debate: Product type. There is ZERO differentiation between: Natural kratom leaf 🌿 Standardized extracts ⚗️ High-potency or isolated alkaloid products 🧪 Those are pharmacologically different exposures—and treating them as one is scientifically irresponsible. 📈 Yes, reports increased. Of course they did. So did usage. So did awareness. So did poison center engagement. Correlation is not causation. That’s Research Methods 101. 🎯 Bottom line: This paper does NOT prove kratom is becoming more dangerous. It does NOT prove bans reduce harm. And it absolutely does NOT isolate kratom as the cause of “severe outcomes.” What it actually shows is the urgent need for: Better data Product-level differentiation Real pharmacological analysis And honest, science-based regulation Until then, using poison center call volume as a proxy for public health risk is not just weak science—it’s misleading. #Kratom #PublicHealth #Regulation #ScienceMatters #HarmReductio

Kratom policy varies by state. We looked at poison center exposures by reuglation status. Bans → lower exposure & severe outcomes “Regulation” → looks a lot like no regulation An attempt to provide unbiased data to help inform policy. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/42015466/ #Kratom

This is what over a decade of responsible kratom use looks like for me. 👇💚 Not a mugshot. Not a psych ward. Not a “zombie.” A mom. A business owner. A woman in her 40s training BJJ, lifting weights, showing up for her family, running companies, traveling, advocating, and living life fully. I’m tired of the media pretending every single person who uses kratom ends up destroyed while ignoring millions of responsible adults quietly living healthy, productive lives. Could some people misuse products? Of course. That can happen with literally anything. But sensational headlines are not the full story. My story is this: Kratom helped me through stressful seasons of life while allowing me to stay active, motivated, focused, and present. And again…the public deserves honesty about it. This plant did not ruin my life. It helped me keep moving forward. 💚 #kratom #keepkratomlegal #truth #kratomsaves

With all of these agencies involved, how can #IndividualizedCare possibly be a priority or a reality? With this much oversight comes blanket policies, generic regulations and one-size-fits-all guidelines. That’s not what’s best for patients. 16/16 🛑
