Sara and I have cherished our friendship with Lizzy for years. Her incredible sense of humor and love of her dogs were more than enough to endear us to this extraordinary person. There was this indescribable other “thing” about her though. It’s called humanity. She has been blessed with an extra dose of it. I believe in my heart that her generosity, in sharing that gift with others, may buy her a miracle.

So. Had my first appt with the oncologist yesterday. Stage 4 metastatic cancer, incurable, average life expectancy 2-3 years. Not the news I wanted. Their hope is to do chemo before any surgery to try and shrink the tumor and best case scenario, manage this as a chronic condition. I’m crushed and sick to my stomach at the thought of leaving Jake. He would be heartbroken without me here.
