I argue this with @Pittsburgh1Pete and @bigwerms to absolute nauseam. @BarryBonds (to me) will always be the great “what if”. He had HOF numbers before gaining 50 pounds of muscle mass and juicing to the gills. 250 of those 762 HRs are by cheating. That being said, the answer is Teddy Ballgame. A man who did the opposite. Didn’t cheat to win, left the game to be a fighter pilot for our country, then came back to play while missing 5 prime years. Incredible.
