November NHS stats are OUT 🚨 📉 NHS waiting list DOWN by 86,000 – the 2nd biggest drop in 15 years 🚑 Faster ambulance arrivals 👩‍⚕️ GP access satisfaction up from 60% to 75% 📊 Fewer staff leaving than at any point in a decade This is thanks to NHS staff + Labour’s modernisation and record investment. The NHS is on the road to recovery. Labour’s delivering the change people voted for.

@FootballManager Lovely video for the agency who worked on the fonts and graphics. I like them and feel fresh and modern. However the FM logo is an abomination (F3). Please see sense and change this.

I suspect we might get some Football Manager 2025 news tomorrow. SEGA SAMMY's next financial report is released tomorrow at 2:30am UK time. These documents tend to include IP-rollout plans for games in the upcoming quarter. No FM25 = Panic. 🔗segasammy.co.jp/en/ir/

@WorkTheSpace Totally agree. They've been building up to this in the background for years, but two months out won't preview it. You can see why they kept with the tried and tested formula for so long.

I've been thinking a lot about FM25's announcement and the general community reaction to this week's news. Long read ahead: TLDR: FM25 needed to be revealed differently from previous entries. When you market a game, different parts of the marketing campaign target different audiences. Suppose you, as a consumer, anticipate the announcement and features every year and are likely to preorder. In that case, you're a hardcore fan and, ultimately, the person they're targeting with all the prerelease marketing material. I think this year's launch cycle is different from previous ones. In the past, alongside the launch trailer, we’ve received key information early on, such as basic details on new features and match engine screenshots as we did for FM24. This time around, however, none of these things have been provided. In any game's development cycle, when a significant component like an engine is replaced, it's usually showcased upfront to build confidence and excitement. If SI were confident in the new engine, you have to think it would be front and centre in the marketing efforts for FM25. In previous years, you knew what you'd get from FM; the formula never really changed, but this year, based on the past FM25 blogs full of bad news, people are anxious to know more. SI has labelled this as the start of a new era but has provided fewer details than usual while launching pre-orders. That combo seems to have rubbed the hardcore this announcement is marketed for the wrong way. I think people are vocal about FM25 because they care; they are hardcore players, after all. People wanted to see more because change is big and scary and new. With all the bad new blogs that dropped, there wasn't reason for optimism, and this week hasn't helped that. I don't think people are resistant to change or the game evolving, but they want to be assured of what those changes to FM are and how they benefit them as players. Ok, this write-up was way longer than I planned; if you got to the bottom, thank you.

@nocontextfm1 They need to sack their creative agency. This and the Sports Interactive rebrand are dogshit. That or Miles needs to step back from marketing decisions.

@LukeEdwardsTele There's a worrying lack of cover / quality in key positions. Feels a degree of inevitably as a result of the transition to new leadership and structure. If Bruno or Isak get injured....

This could well be the end of Newcastle’s summer transfer window. They are not closed for business but will not sign players who are not high on their wanted list. Feeling it’s better to wait. Unless Palace suddenly revive Guehi deal #nufc telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/…

15 things about #ENG #EURO2024 squad… 1, Immediate reaction: A midfield and attack that can reach the final but an imbalanced defence that can be exposed. A squad with youth which hints that Southgate also looking towards the 2026 World Cup. 2, That sad moment when the forlorn seven leave the players’ group WhatsApp. The last thing Grealish, Maddison and co want to hear is instructions on what time to meet for breakfast, which tops to wear, what time the bus is leaving for the airport etc. 3, Players in squad missing absent friends. Rice: “It’s been really tough, Madders and Jack are two of my best mates in the squad. To see them go is not a nice feeling. We’re so close as a group.” 4, Players care, Part 1: Maddison’s statement showed that. Pain flowed through the 137 words. Honesty, too, with the acknowledgement that his late-season form, below his usual standards, “gave Gareth a decision to make”. Nice final flourish, sounding like a fan, “I genuinely hope football comes home”. 5, All right on the night: England’s likely defence against Serbia all right-footed. Walker-Stones-Guehi-Trippier. Southgate: “In an ideal world you’d like a balance of left-footers.” So why no left-footed Branthwaite? “It’s a bit early for Jarrad. He’s had a fabulous season for #EFC. But for him to be ahead of the others would not have been the right call at this stage.” 6, Are we Shaw? Yes. Luke Shaw is by far #ENG best left-back. Southgate admits it is “a calculated gamble” to take someone who has not played since mid-February. But he “could have some involvement in the second group game” against Denmark on June 20. Fingers crossed. 7, Players care, part 2. Maguire’s post echoes Maddison. “For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Go and win it boys.” Maguire’s determination/desperation to represent England meant he pushed his calf but it would not respond in time. Southgate told BBC Radio Five Live that Maguire would “not be available for the group stage”. Maguire will be missed. England have lost a force defending and attacking set-pieces, have lost a goalscorer (seven in 63), a leader and a penalty-taker (2/2 with England). 8, Lucky Lewis? Dunk, 32, is fortunate to be in. A good, solid mid-table Premier League defender but six caps in six years does not signal a talent demanding to be picked by England managers. 9, The kids are all right in midfield. Mainoo, 19, and Wharton, 20. “The future is looking bright for England in midfield,” says Rice. “We saw against Belgium what Kobbie can do and in the last six months at United. Adam is so composed on the ball, really crisp passing, wants to learn. He’s ready for the big stage. He doesn’t get fazed.” 10, High standards. Even during the 15 minutes’ training we were allowed to watch at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground today, the depth of England’s creative and attacking options stood out, and why Maddison and Grealish were overlooked. Foden’s control, Eze’s movement, Palmer’s touch etc. And Bellingham to return. 11, Penalty shootout five: 1, Kane (71/82; nailed his last 15); 2, Toney (30/32); 3, Palmer (1/1 for England; 9/9 for #CFC); 4, Saka (6/6 for #AFC); 5, Bellingham (3/3 #RMCF, #BVB). 12, Gordon and tonic. Good to see Anthony Gordon training again. He gives something different down the left, a directness, an extra threat from the bench. 13, Kane’s back-ups need backing. Southgate will pay attention to Watkins and Toney. “They need to feel there is belief in them. They recognise the calibre of the man ahead of them but it is a different dynamic for them. At their clubs they are the men who everybody looks up to.” 14, No consolation for Maddison and Grealish but other high-profile players left out after making long-lists, even short-lists. So here’s a Snubbed XI (3-4-3): Banks (1962); Pallister (1992), Ferdinand (2000), Adams (1990); McManaman (2002), Gascoigne (98), Wilshere (2018), A Cole (2014); I Wright (92), Lofthouse (1958), Cunningham (1980). Subs: Shilton (1970); P Neville (98), Rocastle (90 and 92), Edwards (1954), T Francis (1986), D Bent (2006 and 2010. 15, Likely starting XI v Serbia: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier; Alexander-Arnold, Rice; Saka, Bellingham, Foden; Kane.
