I am in a national role in interventional cardiology- i am the @BCIS_uk National audit lead responsible for writing the annual report of PCI practising in the UK and individual operator reporting that relates to patient safety for the national transparency agenda. Many of the other signatories that called for the @RCPhysicians EGM, hold similar roles in their speciality, as does @parthaskar in diabetes If the uk interventional Cardiologists that I represent lost faith in my ability to carry out my role, I would not try to hide behind regulations, say that there is no mechanism for a vote of no confidence and brazen it out to advance my own career. I would resign, as i am pretty sure every other one of my fellow signatories fir their roles. It's time for senior council members of @RCPhysicians to do the right thing and resign. I know one or two of them personally. They are good people at heart but have got this very wrong. It's time to consider the reputation of the college and the lack of support amongst their peers rather than their potential for government honours when the majority of their members no longer want them in post. And if they do think they have support then call a vote.
