Hardly unusual anymore! Soo predictable...Take huge positions on the stock market and on oil just before a major announcement and always be on the right side of the trade Has played out at least half a dozen time in this 'geopolitical' crisis As I have mentioned in some of my recent interviews, this time there is one battlefield out on the ground and there is a separate move/ counter-move battle going on on social media and media And SOMEONE is making unbelievable amounts of money

BREAKING: Just 20 minutes before Trump's announcement that the Strait of Hormuz was open, massive trades hit the market. Investors sold a combined 7,990 lots of Brent crude futures, a $760 million bet that oil would go down. These orders were much larger than anything else at the time. The traders made huge gains. Unusual.

#Iran rolls back its decision to OPEN the #StraitOfHormuz Hormuz due to continuation of the #US Blockade. Speaker of the Parliament tweets two hours ago announcing the Strait is CLOSED. Galibaf 👇 “The President of the United States made seven claims in one hour, all seven of which were false. 2- They did not win the war with these lies, and they will certainly not get anywhere in negotiations either. 3- With the continuation of the blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open” Separately, reports suggest next round of talks in #Islamabad could happen on Monday. Good Poetry vs. Bad Poetry: Depth of Meaning and Philosophical Reflection These days, as I read through contemporary Urdu poetry, a recurring disappointment strikes me. Most verses seem to fall into the category of “bad poetry” because they convey only a single, obvious meaning. In contrast, good poetry is that which yields multiple layers of interpretation, reflects profound philosophical insights into life, and leaves the reader with something enduring to ponder. The primary characteristic of bad poetry is its one-dimensional nature. It presents just one idea or emotion that is immediately grasped. Expressions like “my heart is broken” or “love has betrayed me,” when rendered in plain and predictable language, offer nothing new to the reader. Such verses provide momentary emotional comfort, much like hearing an old story retold in fresh words. There is neither beauty of expression nor freshness of thought. Consequently, these poems are quickly forgotten because they fail to leave a lasting impression on the mind or soul. Good poetry, on the other hand, possesses the vastness of the universe within a few compact lines. It generates multiple meanings that depend on the reader’s intellectual level, personal experiences, and way of thinking. Consider Ghalib’s famous couplet: “Thousands of desires, each worth dying for.” On the surface, it speaks of countless longings, each demanding one’s very life to fulfill. Yet, diving deeper, the verse reveals the philosophy of human restlessness, the futility of endless desires, the constant struggle of existence, and the inherent tragedy of life. One reader may interpret it in the context of romantic love, another as an existential crisis, and yet another as a commentary on societal pressures and the loss of personal freedom. Thus, a single couplet unfolds into several distinct interpretations. Similarly, Mir Taqi Mir’s verse: “Why inquire about Mir’s faith and religion now,
When those who question were never priests themselves?” At one level, it suggests Mir’s freedom from religious orthodoxy. At another, it sharply satirizes those who criticize others’ beliefs while being imperfect themselves. The couplet touches upon religious hypocrisy, human frailty, and social double standards. The more one reflects, the more layers it reveals. Good poetry reflects the philosophy of life because it goes beyond mere emotions. It offers deep insights into human existence, the universe, time, love, death, and reality. Poets like Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Allama Iqbal, Jon Elia, and Parveen Shakir have given us verses that are not only aesthetically beautiful but also intellectually stimulating. Reading them, one feels that the poet has not merely voiced personal feelings but has spoken as the voice of collective humanity. In today’s digital age, thousands of poems are shared daily on social media, mostly written for quick “likes.” Simplicity has given way to superficiality. Poets repeatedly recycle the same ideas and complaints. As a result, poetry has largely become a tool for emotional relief rather than a medium of profound expression. Its true power — multiplicity of meaning, philosophical depth, and the magic of language — seems to have been lost. Good poetry compels the reader to return to it again and again. Each reading uncovers a new layer, sparks a fresh thought, and reveals life from a new perspective. Bad poetry ends with a single reading; good poetry accompanies one throughout life. Therefore, while reading poetry, we should not settle for mere emotional satisfaction. We must ask ourselves: Does this verse raise any questions in my mind? Does it teach me something new about life? If the answer is yes, it is good poetry. Otherwise, it is merely a collection of words.

You’re tracking numbers. Revenue. Margins. Profits But do you know what’s driving them? In Money, Myths and Mantras, @devinamehra explains why surface level numbers aren’t enough. You need to understand the drivers behind them. Because numbers don’t move on their own: * Revenue - demand, pricing, scale * Margins - costs, competition, efficiency * Growth - industry + execution If you don’t know the drivers, you’re just reacting — not anticipating. 📖 Chapter 12 shows how to move from numbers to real understanding. The difference between Mohabbat and Ishq elucidated in great detail 😊 by @gulrayys Well worth reading It also tangentially reminded me of this mellifluous song Mohabbat Hi Na Jo samjhe woh zalim pyar Kya jaane youtu.be/UJPTgC0trbw?si… Double Lucknow flavor as the singer Talat Mehmood and the poet Noor Lucknowi were both from my home town #poetry

The Difference Between Ishq (Passionate Love) and Mohabbat (Love) Yesterday evening, during one of Sham e Masroor ’s short stories at the Mehfil@Prithvi, someone asked about the meaning of the sentence:
“Mujhe apni haveli se mohabbat nahi, ishq hai.”
(“I don’t have love for my haveli, I have ishq for it.”) Here’s how we explained it: Love and Ishq are both among the deepest and most beautiful human emotions, yet there is a fundamental difference between them — in their nature, intensity, durability, and their effect on a person. Mohabbat (Love) is soft, peaceful, and mature. It is rooted in respect, care, empathy, and a deep sense of value for the other person. In Mohabbat, there is emotional closeness, a feeling of responsibility, and the genuine desire to see the other person happy. It grows stronger with time. Reason and wisdom play a significant role in it. You can think clearly: “This person is good for me. Life feels better with them.” There is sacrifice in Mohabbat, but it is a wise and balanced sacrifice. Jealousy, restlessness, and anxiety are minimal. It is stable, calming, and meant for the long term. For example, the relationship between a husband and wife who have spent years together — they know each other’s weaknesses, yet they choose to stand by one another. In Mohabbat, the feeling is not “I cannot live without you,” but rather “I am happy and complete with you.” It nourishes the body, heart, and mind in a balanced way. Trust, loyalty, and commitment form its foundation. Ishq (Passionate Love) is the complete opposite. It is intense, restless, and often irrational. It burns like fire. In Ishq, the role of reason is minimal. It is filled with heartache, sleepless nights, constant thoughts about one person, and an overwhelming sense of longing. Phrases like “I cannot live without you” or “My breath stops without you” dominate this feeling. Ishq is a storm that takes complete hold of a person. Jealousy, restlessness, loss of appetite, and detachment from the rest of the world are common. It can even be one-sided. Physical attraction plays a very strong role in Ishq, whereas Mohabbat is more about emotional and spiritual connection. Ishq often remains incomplete or causes deep pain because it is based more on imagination and idealization than on reality. Ishq is what we see in stories like Majnun’s love for Laila or Rumi’s devotion to Shams Tabrizi — it is a kind of divine madness. In Ishq, a person loses themselves. In Mohabbat, a person finds and completes themselves. Ishq flares up quickly and can cool down just as fast. Mohabbat, on the other hand, grows slowly and steadily, and once it takes root, it can last a lifetime — even centuries. Key Differences: •Intensity: Ishq is fierce and turbulent; Mohabbat is gentle and serene. •Role of Reason: In Ishq, reason is almost absent; in Mohabbat, reason is present and guiding. •Durability: Ishq is often temporary or a passing intense phase; Mohabbat is enduring and solid. •Effect: Ishq can break a person; Mohabbat strengthens and unites. •Nature: Ishq is mostly a physical and emotional whirlwind; Mohabbat is a harmonious blend of emotional, mental, and spiritual connection. Often, Ishq is the beginning stage of a relationship. Many people start with Ishq, and if the bond matures with time, it gradually transforms into Mohabbat. But not every Ishq turns into Mohabbat. Ishq is a beautiful madness.
Mohabbat is a beautiful reality. In the end, both bring color to life. Ishq gives life passion and excitement, while Mohabbat gives it stability and peace. The person who can experience and balance both is truly fortunate. This version maintains the original depth, poetic touch, and cultural nuance while sounding natural and fluent in English. Would you like any part to be more concise, more literary, or more casual?

Four work/ event saree looks in a week...not even counting the wedding reception last weekend - representing handwork from across the country. I can count off Lucknow, Bengal, Jaipur and Madhya Pradesh in this lot Would not even have thought of wearing sarees so often just a few years ago...we often don't realize just how much a negative presence in our life weighs us down On a lighter note, like they say about swimming and cycling, you don't forget how to wear a saree even if there is a gap of a few decades PS: Yup, I know it is not Instagram, but since this is the platform where I am active, you, dear reader, have to lump it 😊 I normally take a picture to send to my school friends, so that's how I have a record Have a good weekend

I do not understand by what logic China was not investable 2 years ago and suddenly has become investable today Sorry to say, but this type of contrortions to come up with stories to justify anything and everything that is happening in the market as of a particular moment is almost comical

India is no longer the only game in town… “….Today, the position is very different. China is investable, with some policy stability and global leadership across multiple industries. You cannot ignore China, given its strengths in the electric vehicle (EV) value chain, renewables, robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). Korea is still cheap and undergoing signifi- cant corporate governance reform, inves tors have seen the upside of this playbook in Japan. Taiwan with its leadership in semiconductors is unavoidable and even Brazil has its fans. India is no longer the only game in town. Therefore harder questions are being asked, both on valuations and longer-term growth prospects….” Source @bsindia
