They really need to turn off the vernacular machine, it's sort of maddening to constantly see people say "larp" while talking about things that are not even Live Action and are only dubiously Role-Playing even in a metaphorical sense. You can just call someone a poseur.

"Posting on the internet about liking something", regardless of if it's authentic or not, is not LARP. That is all happening on a computer, that is just regular "role-playing" at best even if you're right.

@quintisius Even with recent being total rather than just English, you can get a hint of "huh, there's a discrepancy here, I wonder why" and you'll likely go and investigate further (if you care)

@quintisius I have this setting turned on, I assumed that it defaulted to on for everyone when they introduced it but maybe they didn't and I turned it on manually and forgot. It pretty much fixes all that (except the recent reviews are still total rather than just your language) imo

Because Steam user reviews are not really reviews in the traditional sense. Instead, they're used as a bargaining chip to communicate real time grievances with game updates, bugs, and developer choices at the expense of a game's actual overall quality and reputation. This is one of the many reasons why I don't trust user reviews and scores.

I think the fact that you listen to the original OST and go "oh, this is just excellent music" and could imagine it as some totally standalone concept album (which also happens to align with the concept of the game very well) is part of what makes it stand out.

The Replicant OST makes me feel like "Ah, this is music made for a video game". This is not inherently a bad thing in general, but it is not at all how the original OST feels.

Saw Sonic Racing: Crossworlds was on sale, downloaded the demo to check it out, went into the settings and the game is capped at 60 fps. Was honestly shocked. Don't really expect to see that in new games any more, even from Japanese devs.

@UsVyFiAb9206410 Yeah LOL it is like that every time it's funny. Most of the Chinese reviews with a reason given right now are 3. but 90% of them are just a torrent of vulgar insults. You can only assume they are complaining for the same reason but you also can't really be sure

@DioLarmguy When the game gets chinese review bombed it's one of 3 things.
1. Bad translation
2. "Political" upset
3. "Game too hard pls nerf"
But they never actually say what the issue actually is in the reviews they just string together as many insults as they can think of.

Used this feature for the first time because some people were carrying on an unrelated argument in my replies. It applied it to *every reply* to my own tweet instead of the specific tweet I selected it on. How useless lol.

@owencmyk Do you have a link to info about the content creator who instigated the brigade? I wasn't aware of that element to it, I wonder if Steam will mark it as a review bomb and remove the reviews from the score like they do sometimes.

@DioLarmguy Basically they updated the game to remove certain easy infinite loops in the test version of the game, and apparently a Chinese content creator started a brigade to try and review bomb the game over it to cause as much damage as they could

@ParipariPanini It seems like it would be a bit different to have to convince a publisher "this is just a very vocal segment that does not use the review system like you think they would, you have to pretty much ignore it"

@ParipariPanini I was actually quite curious about how this sort of thing is received on the developer/publisher side. For users it's very easy to filter out and ignore, the only info you're looking for is "Will I enjoy this game?"

Having helped publish three other games on Steam now this has been my experience as well. Chinese customers are brutal. It makes me wonder if I should release my own games in that language at all.

@bie_bugyellow It's pretty unfortunate because most other users treat a negative review as a last resort to be used only when they've lost confidence in the developers. Chinese gamers seem to use them for every little thing.

@DioLarmguy 中国区的评价普遍较低的重要原因就是，大部份steam游戏并没有为中国玩家专门设立一个社区或反馈渠道，当然也有一部分原因是大部份中国玩家懒得去找，认为游戏是在steam买的，在steam里反馈游戏里遇到的问题，并加个差评好让开发者能够看见
