@CDInewsletter I don’t believe nowadays there are forever hold stocks … it implies you are willing to lower your return expectations.
English

A really simple strategy I like more and more as time goes on:
1. Identify buy and hold forever stocks (like these ones)
2. Patiently wait until they hit 52-week lows
3. Buy
4. Repeat

@CDInewsletter You should call it what it’s like though. You quick work to run a small business on your own terms.
You are still earning money from your newsletter, you just work for yourself and on your own time.
English

@TheDividendGuy I have the last two.
The first one used to own a fair amount of ATD and i was concerned for a while that it rode the tail of ATD but they sold to acquire PJC.

Discover great Canadian low yield stocks even retirees will like... 🙃
None of the usual suspects this time though, no $ATD, $CNR, $TFI.
Curious? ⬇️

December Dividend and Year End Results! dividendearner.com/dividend-incom…
English

@CDInewsletter Wait, is that what we are supposed to do in December?
I thought being financially independent because of my stock portfolio meant I could just sit back and relax 😎 Enjoy the days and go ski ⛷️.
I mean someone has to help the economy with spending 🛍️
English

@CDInewsletter It doesn’t change the number whether you talk about it from gross or net. Because salaries are advertise as gross, I think it’s easier. RRSP contribution limit is on gross as well and that’s a saving rate in and of itself.
English

@DividendEarner I agree it is definitely harder for self-employed folks or contractors to figure out net, and maybe gross would be more suitable for them.
It's a fun discussion. Merits on both sides.
English

The argument was with me, and I need to know whether I've been measuring this wrong all this time. Plz vote.
Jordan Maas@damaaster
Okay, Twitter, solve an argument: When you talk about your savings rate or a target savings rate, do you base it on your GROSS or NET pay?
English

@damaaster Look at it this way, contribution by employers to a plan is on gross.
If I talk to stranger, I would do math on gross because I would not know net. I don’t even know my net …
If you budget like crazy everything you spend on. You know your net and probably use your net.
English

@CDInewsletter XRE doesn’t share your performance since inception … or 10 year.
I am still not sold on REITs. I will continue to avoid them.

@Lovey1973 So your solution is a go fund me plan until the next time … not sustainable. Looks like big changes are needed.

Inflation kills, BOC keeps raising rates😒
Rates squeeze consumers,
Banks are at risk,
Retailers struggle😬
Yet, the market is up, and many stocks seem overvalued!🤨
How can you invest and protect your portfolio at the same time?

@myownadvisor @Tawcan @TheDividendGuy @DividendGrowth @DvdndDiplomats @DividendDaddy1 @DividendDynasty @FreedomFinLB My usual culprit that overlaps my RRSP but $GOOGL was discounted and backed up the truck at around $100.
English

@DividendEarner @Tawcan @TheDividendGuy @DividendGrowth @DvdndDiplomats @DividendDaddy1 @DividendDynasty @FreedomFinLB Our 🇨🇦 index is not diversified. Two sectors dominate. That said, I enjoy owning TULF stocks from Canada (telcos, utilities, lower-yielders, financials).
Interesting call USD for TFSA. I assume growth stocks there?
English

We hold quite many stocks in our dividend portfolio. I took a look on what's the optimum number of stocks to have in a portfolio. tawcan.com/what-is-the-op… thoughts? @myownadvisor @TheDividendGuy @DividendGrowth @DvdndDiplomats @DividendDaddy1 @DividendDynasty @FreedomFinLB
English

@myownadvisor @Tawcan @TheDividendGuy @DividendGrowth @DvdndDiplomats @DividendDaddy1 @DividendDynasty @FreedomFinLB I gave up on diversification… first of all, it’s impossible to do in Canada.
I decided to play offense instead of défense with one hand tied behind my back.
I have 60% of my money in USD now. I am slowly buying USD for my TFSA and all RRSP is already USD.
English

@DividendEarner @Tawcan @TheDividendGuy @DividendGrowth @DvdndDiplomats @DividendDaddy1 @DividendDynasty @FreedomFinLB Another good example of some form of asset concentration for some DIY investors to juice returns. There is some risk of course.
Not that you're Buffett - 😎 - but he is not diversified nearly as much as he preaches.
