dwtwt being all shocked pikachu face that the bbc is having a hard time finding a showrunner for dw as if every showrunner hasn’t had insane amounts of abuse (including death threats) hurled at them by the fandom from day 1 😭😭

You don't have to love RTD2 to recognise how many factors were outside RTD's control. RTD had an original plan. But a series of circumstances outside his control forced him to pivot repeatedly. Looking at RTD2 without that context misses a huge part of the story. A thread....🧵

Even the Reality War wasn't that bad IMO, just the circumstances surrounding it and how sad it was that Ncuti's run ended so early! But I quite liked the Ranis and giant skelly-Omega and all the UNIT stuff and seeing 15 fly around like Luke at the Battle of Hoth.

Like, even my issues with Episode 6 aside (given how badly it aged in the years since it was written), I remember turning off the tv after Episode 7 thinking "this is nearly a home run".

Are we forgetting that until The Reality War, we were pretty much in agreement that season 2 was bordering on a generational run? Now we're acting like it was the antithesis to creativity? I get it, parts of it weren't great but for the most part I thought it was quite fantastic

@50Doctor I'm starting to think it's the BBC who is getting him to say this, not something he himself wants to say.

For example, I loved The Reality War as a episode, but the circumstances around what happened I hate, circumstances that were due to Disney's indecision. Furthermore, the issues I do have with the episode stem from the reshoots they had to do due to... you guessed it, Disney.

I LOVE this theory, but it only just misses out in working as the outbreak in TWD occurs August 25th, 2010 and Breaking Bad ends in September of that year. Meaning for the epilogue of Breaking Bad, the outbreak would've had to have already begun.

1. One of the wildest TV fan theories says Breaking Bad is secretly a prequel to The Walking Dead. The clue that started it all? Walter White’s blue meth showing up after the world ends. Here’s a post explaining the connection between these two shows.

@bestofbreakin As much as I would've loved for this to be true the Dodge Challenger was stolen in Atlanta

4. Fans also point to the red Dodge Challenger. Glenn drives one in Atlanta. Walt buys one for Junior. And in Breaking Bad, the car is also linked to a dealership guy named Glenn.

@DoctorWhoHugh Backrooms and Obsession didn't have brand sponsorship, would you please explain those movies successes relative to Grogu?

@SatireStation The idea that they'd not include the $100M they made from brand deals when considering if the film was profitable makes no sense to me but alright.

@DoctorWhoHugh The real number for a theatrical break even is how much money the movie makes in theaters set against the production and marketing with theater splits. The movie can absolutely break even through multiple revenue streams, but the theatrical break even is only the theatrical.

@dangermonkey77 I've said the same thing about Solo, and so many other films that I enjoy that don't get a fair go at the box office.

@supersoniceh And yet marketing costs are included while sponsorship/merchandising forms of profit aren't? How is that fair?

@DoctorWhoHugh A reminder that no one has ever included sponsorship and merchandise sales as a part of the total gross lol.
