SNEAKO, a Muslim streamer who lives in Miami, demands that Americans keep their dogs at home because they are gross: "Fuck your dog. Keep your dog home. Dogs are gross and haram, and this is a sign from Allah. Have a child, not a bunch of fucking dogs. Fuck your dogs in Miami."

@TheTorontoSun She has a right to her own opinion and like the rest of has a right to express it. What just because she's the mayor she's not allowed to express it. Get off your high horse and walk a little

@drensimoni @kinsellawarren Always the victim! How about cause they're aggressive and violent? How about because they were attacking the Iranians while people in Iran were getting slaughtered by IRGC? Free them from what? Free them from Hamas? Cause I don't hear them admitting that.

A few years ago, I was introduced to the concept of anti-Palestinian racism. At the time, I dismissed it as another attempt to create a new label when we already have well-established ways of describing racism, xenophobia, and discrimination directed at ethnic, cultural, religious, and other minority groups. Since then, I've come to accept that anti-Palestinian racism is a real phenomenon. So what was the context in which the mayor made those remarks? Why are those words considered offensive? Do we no longer believe in freedom of expression, or only in freedom when it aligns with certain viewpoints? Attempts like this to throw mud in the hope that some of it sticks are having the opposite effect. For moderates like me, who have tried to take a balanced and reasonable view of the conflict in the Middle East, posts like yours make it easier to see through the insincerity of these attacks. If anything, they make me even more inclined to support Chow's re-election campaign. And this is far from the first time that people like you have tried to attack Chow simply for exercising her right to free expression: x.com/drensimoni/sta… I expected a more thoughtful argument from you.

🇨🇦🇮🇱‼️ Apoligize (and resign!) for exercesing her Charter right of thought, belief, opinion, and, expression!? Those who disagree with @oliviachow’s characterization of Israel’s military conduct in Gaza over the past two years, have every right to disagree with her opinion, as she has the very same right to express it. Denying her that exercise is an attack on free speech, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the Canadian Constitution. It’s an attack on Canada. I personally dislike it when I have to reduce it to a left-centrist-right political debate, but the reality is that the political right is the first one to cry foul in defence of free speech whenever they perceive - falsely or otherwise - an attempt to curtail it from opposing ends of the political spectrum. There is no shortage of the attacks from the right on the so-called “woke”factor for example, using it as a pejorative label to disparage progressive movements and ideas. Anti-woke campaigners often frame themselves as "free-speech warriors" fighting against what they perceive as an authoritarian "woke agenda" that seeks to control language and suppress dissenting conservative viewpoints in institutions like universities and corporations. Notwithstanding that being “woke” is generally meant being aware of systemic social inequalities and injustices, particularly concerning race, and calling for change. It’s about facing the truth and doing something to fix it. This is the same political grouping - including this opportunistic city councillor referenced here, who is hoping to consolidate the support from the right in his second bid to become mayor of Toronto in October 2026 - which is not shy to curtail, shame, and even call for resignations, if anyone else - including from the political left in the Toronto mayor’s example - expresses a differing opinion. What happened to “free speech!?” Being able to exercise the right of expression and criticize another country’s government, or asses the conduct of its military operation as an “x, y, or z,” does not - cannot - mean that that this individual should be automatically labelled as antisemitic - in the context of Israel - or Islamophobic - in the context of any Arab or Muslim-majority government in the world. It is true that for some among us, lambasting Israel - or an Arab state respectively - is an extension of their own hate-motivated antisemitic and Islamophobic respective views. However, tarring everyone with the same brush does disservice to the fight against antisemitism and Islamophobia. It’s counterproductive. I can criticize the Government of Canada on an issue and can be the biggest patriot this country has seen (I’d have to make a lot more sacrifices to earn that specific sweet spot). I should be able to criticize the Government of Israel and still continue to admire and respect the people and the state of Israel. I should be able to criticize the Palestinian Authority and still continue to admire and respect the Palestinian people and the legal self-government body governing the West Bank (Gaza’s governance is contested and fragmented due to the recent war and the significant weakening of Hamas's central command structure, while international efforts are underway to establish a transitional governing body).  As somebody who self-identifies with the political centre, I find it at times fascinating observing the debate involving a complex interplay of competing views on the purpose and limits of free expression. Both sides have been accused of using censorious tactics when it benefits their political position, leading to a "vicious cycle" in the culture war where valid concerns about free speech are sometimes used for political gain or to dismiss the concerns of the other side. This latest outcry is the latest perfect example. We can all do better! #cdnpoli #onpoli #TOpoli #OliviaChow #Toronto #Torontomayor #Israel #IsraelGaza #IsraelGazawar #genocide #freespeech

In Japan, a pregnant Muslim woman visited 7 different hospitals for delivery, demanding only female doctors at every place. Her husband insisted that Islam does not allow a woman to show her face or body to a male doctor, so they needed only female doctors. The Japanese doctor finally asked, “What if the delivery happens at night and only male doctors are available? What will you do then?” Muslim immigrants are now trying to impose their rigid demands even on Japan’s healthcare system.

Many Iranians view the national soccer team as the mullahs’ team; a tool for the regime’s propaganda. These players stay silent during protests and crackdowns and receive generous state perks, including bonuses, luxury cars, and housing, as ordinary Iranians struggle with economic hardship. After the USA’s 1–0 victory over Iran at the 2022 World Cup, many Iranians celebrated in the streets, waving American flags and honking their car horns. The regime’s security forces responded with live ammunition, killing Mehran (27), Farzin (22), and Ehsan (32), and wounding many others. So, the national team’s soccer player is NOT right. It’s not just a problem “between us.” When a brutal Islamist regime is killing unarmed citizens for protesting and demanding justice, basic human rights, and freedom, you can’t simply say, “Don’t worry. It’s between us.” We Iranians do NOT support the Islamic regime’s soccer team! #IranMassacre

The crisis of antisemitism in Canada today demands a targeted response. It also requires all of us to raise our voices in disgust and defiance when we see the ugly face of antisemitism.   Because Canada’s promise is a country where Jewish Canadians can be visibly, fully, joyfully Jewish in public life.  stoppingantisemitism.com
