@legallyabigail @Justadutchguy @lie_sniper @whereby Well, it isn't free for the purposes we're going to use. The Ukraine and Iran Twitter Spaces are already bigger than 100 people. And we can talk for hours. I've found an open-source alternative called jam.systems. Looks promising.

Looks like hosting your own Mastodon server is going to cost less than paying for a blue checkmark on Twitter. Except when you pay to host your own Mastodon server, you own your data, identity, and social graph fully.

@baileytalks @jam_systems Latency should better than with many other solutions because we use p2p communication between the people on the stage. That doesn't mean it is completely latency free though. I don't know how it works without visual clues, though. I'd love to hear about experiences, though!
