Sorry, but The Last Jedi is genuinely the single best Star Wars movie there is. It’s a story of failure, naivety, letting go, and redemption. I will defend this movie to my grave, I do not have anything bad to say about it

All the people saying that Lucasfilm should de-canonize the Sequel Trilogy and make the Zahn trilogy as movies need to explain how you're supposed to make a movie set five years after Return of the Jedi with Luke, Han, and Leia still as young as they were at the end of ROTJ without recasting (which they'd reject), without CGI/AI (which they'd reject), and in live action in 2026.

If you are still claiming that Luke "defaulted to murder" in The Last Jedi then you literally stopped watching the movie halfway through. You are basing your entire argument on Kylo Ren’s biased memory instead of what actually happened. The movie uses the Rashomon effect which means we see the same event from three different perspectives. Kylo’s version shows a murderous assassin because that is how he felt in that moment. But the actual truth is that Luke had a momentary reflex of instinct that he immediately regretted. He never swung the saber. He never intended to kill Ben. He stopped himself because that is who Luke Skywalker is. It is wild to me that people act like Luke was never impulsive before. This is the same guy who nearly hacked Vader to pieces in a blind rage on the Death Star. The difference is that in the temple he caught himself even faster. If you hate the movie because you believed the villain’s unreliable narrator version of the story then the joke is kind of on you. Focus on the actual text instead of the memes.

I dont know how you figure they destroyed Finn and Poe, Poe got some good character development, And Vice Admiral Holdo was an insanely well written character for that job.
Finn went on a boring ass side quest which was a waste of time as was the romance. (they didnt dump his ass to nothing like in Rise of Skywalker)
And in regards to Luke, Luke never had anything to lose when he became a hero the first time around in the original trilogy..
his innocence is part of what allows him to forgive Vader and see the good in him. Flashback to the time skip and he has something he is afraid to lose that he has spent decades building and protecting (his Jedi Order).
It's a believable character flaw, and to Luke's credit it was such a fleeting moment that he did overcome -sadly a little too late cause Kylo saw him - but yeah you can say that part wasn't executed the best, but it was believable.
and Kylo Ren's development throughout the film from piss baby into learning his lesson in patience (by the end of the film) and taking control of his own destiny to become a real threat was great. As was the motif of not needing to come from anything to be great.
And if you are hurt over them crashing Luke's story and the possible world building - well let me tell you, that was massacred in Force Awakens with the destruction of Hosnian Prime and the rehashing of the Death Star story. Totally bankrupts of ideas. All JJ Abrams is good for is casting and character design.

@DrMundo420 @basicallydjo Idgaf that TFA follow Ep4 story beats. It had great hooks for future plot lines with its characters and what they set up. TLJ canabalized those threads in the name of trying to be bold. Then TLS canabalized TLJ to course correct. Its literally an Anti trilogy.
