Told me at Thanksgiving, I just need to be more disciplined with my money,
I make $71,000.
Rent is $1,900.
I have $4,000 in savings.
I didn't say anything.
I passed the rolls.
But here's what i wanted to say:
Your pension was defunded by lobbyists your generation elected.
Your social security is solvent because mine is still paying in.
Your houseis worth $800,000 because mine costs $600,000.
You didn't build differently.
You just got there first.

Colorado is requiring all lawyers in the state to swear under penalty of perjury not to collaborate with the federal government in enforcing immigration law.

Please understand: - I do not practice immigration law. - I do not practice criminal law. - Nothing about my civil practice has anything to do with this. And yet because I cannot log into the State's official e-filing system without saluting The Resistance, I now cannot represent my clients, file lawsuits, access cases, file documents in existing cases, etc. If I click "Decline," it kicks me out of the system. I must click "Accept" to access the system and continue representing my civil clients -- again, in cases that have absolutely nothing to do with immigration law or policy. I've read SB 25-276 (the law referred to below). It does not regulate me as a private attorney or any of the clients I represent in civil matters. This is outrageous draconian overreach. I have ethical obligations to my clients to represent them competently. My existing cases have running deadlines that I must attend to. Judges issue orders in my cases that I must follow. If I don't click "Accept" in order to access the State's e-filing system, I will harm my clients, torpedo my practice, and probably commit malpractice. So, I have no choice. I'm clicking "Accept" under protest.

I welcome the hate for this, but the whole "Ketanji Brown Jackson is stupid" discourse is itself stupid and also racist. There's literally no evidence from her opinions or questions that she's stupid. It's just people who themselves are ignorant about the law. Being in a one person dissent happens sometimes (see Alito in the WBC case). Or if you want some famous heroic examples, Justice Harlan in Plessy.
Same was true for Thomas, who has faced this "DEI hire" stuff for 35 year. He has a judicial philsophy that I deeply disagree with, but he's brilliantly smart.
