Florida City turnout has already surpassed the last biennial election - 11%+ so far vs. 7.04% previously. Vote share to this point: 🔵Democrats: 72.98% (≈48% of registration → +25pts overperformance) 🔴Republicans: 11.7% (≈21% of registration → -9.3pts underperformance)

🚨SNAP Work Requirement Changes WHAT HAPPENED: In 2025, the Congress passed the Big Beautiful Bill, which expanded SNAP work requirements and removed exemptions for several groups that were previously protected. MOST IMPORTANT: People who are NO LONGER automatically exempt from work requirement include: - Adults ages 18–64 without children under 14 - Veterans (unless they qualify under another exemption) - People experiencing homelessness - Former foster youth - Adults working part-time or unstable jobs who don’t consistently meet hour thresholds These groups must now meet work requirements or risk losing SNAP after 3 months. WHAT’S REQUIRED NOW To keep SNAP beyond 3 months, affected individuals must complete 80 hours per month of: ✔ Paid work ✔ Job training or education ✔ Volunteer work ✔ Or a combination of the above If not met, SNAP is limited to 3 months in a 36-month period. Many SNAP recipients are used to automatic renewals or minimal reporting because they were exempt for years. That has changed. ➡️ Florida is started enforcing these rules at recertification and compliance checks on December 1, 2025 ➡️ If requirements aren’t met or documented, benefits can be cut, even if you qualify under a different exemption but don’t know to claim it The Big Beautiful Bill also cut funding for outreach and administration. Florida Department of Children and Families now has fewer resources to notify beneficiaries, provide guidance, or conduct proactive outreach. Many people will find out only after their benefits are reduced or terminated. If you or someone you know receives SNAP in Florida, do not assume automatic renewal. Check your status, and confirm what documentation is required before recertification. Note: I’ll be posting additional details on documentation this week. #2MillionStrong

City of Miami races are officially nonpartisan, and NPAs actually vote that way. They break for candidates who look competent, visible, and independent from the usual Miami insiders. Precinct data shows NPAs follow neighborhood trust, not ideology. That’s what will shape today’s race.

As someone who’s worked on migration and regional security and as someone with friends and family who’ve lived through the consequences of authoritarianism, I can tell you this: whatever happens in Venezuela next will reverberate throughout our hemisphere. If Venezuela enters a real democratic transition, we should expect two things at once: hope, and movement. People who fled Maduro’s regime may consider returning home, but many will wait to see if reforms are real, if elections are truly free, and if basic security and economic stability return.
