@ElTomasso2 @beesley_cathy Oh I'm doing fine, thanks. I'll take any free money anyone wants to chuck at me but I don't need it. Why does he need me to subsidise him if he can't make his business profitable?

Peter does not live on the minimum wage. He relies on Universal Credit to top up his workers’ wages to a survivable level so he is nicely off. We pay for people like Peter to run businesses while paying starvation wages.
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@ElTomasso2 @beesley_cathy If he can't pay the costs and his workers' wage, his is a failing business. Why am I paying them so that he can make a profit? Are their any other kinds of failure you'd like me to subsidise?

@greatindoors2 @beesley_cathy His point was about the crazy costs of running a small independent business and he's right. They're not all run by millionaires. Cut the business taxes then raise minimum wage, simple

@greatindoors2 @beesley_cathy Cut the other expenses, rates, rent, utilities, suppliers, electricity, insurance, prsi, VAT, NI, merchant costs, accounting, royalties, waste/pest control etc etc and then small business can afford it no problem.

@beesley_cathy I absolutely don't understand this. If you can't afford staff, your business is failing. Why am I subsidising your failed business???

@ElTomasso2 @footballontnt @Becky_Ives_ @tntsports As if you would call the officials wrong for getting this wrong about your own team 🤣 give over. A huge difference between a clear challenge for the ball, and following through with excessive force. Let’s leave it here. Good luck in the 2nd leg, should be a belter. 👍

"A huge, HUGE mistake" ❌ Unai Emery was NOT HAPPY with VAR after they refused to advise the referee to look at Elliot Anderson's tackle on Ollie Watkins 👀 🎙️ @Becky_Ives_ | 📺 @tntsports on HBO Max

@_Symmo @footballontnt @Becky_Ives_ @tntsports Again I respectully disagree. The difference is you want to make clear challenges on the ball a thing of the past, I dont. The game is better for them. The officials got it right here I'd be the 1st to call them out otherwise

@ElTomasso2 @footballontnt @Becky_Ives_ @tntsports How is it incorrect? Are you seriously telling me when you “win” the ball, and then follow through on your opponent to connect on his ankle like that isn’t “excessive force”? you would be raging if it was other way round and you know it.

@ElTomasso2 @footballontnt @Becky_Ives_ @tntsports The rule of “excessive force” was broken. Like I said, if the roles were reversed you would be fuming too. Touching the ball (with zero control of it), doesn’t not outweigh excessive force. Look at all the thoughts of the experts - all agree with this.

@_Symmo @footballontnt @Becky_Ives_ @tntsports I respectfully disagree. The rules matter. Anderson made contact with the ball and the manner of the contact rolled into what may have looked like a heavy challenge, but it wasn't. No rules broken, ergo no need for Var intervention.

@ElTomasso2 @footballontnt @Becky_Ives_ @tntsports That’s irrelevant. Catching it with his studs does not override the excessive force these challenges are judged on. If this was the other way round you would be crying for a red, it’s that simple.
