And another key point: pain in running is partly a mental phenomenon. We think we have given all we have to give. Then we realize that we can beat an arbitrary time standard and we suddenly can sprint under it.

Whatever the result tomorrow, I want to thank you, the people of our State for giving me the chance to lead over the last four years. I can’t tell you how much of a privilege it has been. My Government and I haven’t been perfect, but I’ve worked as hard as I possibly can to lift our State up. Importantly, the rest of Australia looks at SA very differently now. We now have the best performing economy in the whole nation. Young people have more job opportunities than ever before. Housing construction rates are now nation leading. Ambulances are now rolling up on time. Infrastructure is being delivered We saved Whyalla. Saved Bedford. Responded to floods, droughts and algae blooms. We’ve bought out state to life with Gather Round, Liv Golf, Super cars and now Moto GP. Put tech colleges back in high schools. Delivered a budget surplus every year. Banned ALL political donations. And started a global movement to put social media age limits in place. These things have happened because you gave me and my team a chance to serve. I will never be able to thank you enough for this. Naturally, I would welcome the chance to keep the momentum going for our State. But as it should be, that is 100% up to you when you cast your vote tomorrow. South Australia is my home and always will be. I love this place and hope we can continue to be the envy of the world. Thanks again, Pete.
